The Alvarez Artist 65 series Classical Hybrid Electric is an acoustic built to the highest quality and optimised for a warm, open sound.

After 50 years of making guitars, the American-based company have packed all their knowledge into building the finest solid top instruments in the world today.

This Hybrid has a neck that joins at the 14th fret and a slightly narrower nut width than a standard classical guitar, making this perfectly suited to electric players after the classical sound.

Body and neck

High-quality materials and clever design result in a reliable, well-balanced classical guitar. The combination of a solid Red Cedar top and Mahogany body and neck produce a lively, responsive and warm tone. The Rosewood fingerboard adds to the great sound and smooth playability.

At the forefront of design is its traditional Spanish fan system bracing. It allows for balance and volume across all six strings. The Spanish heel neck joint has been carefully designed for stability and consistency.

Alvarez have also been conscious of the gloss finish. They’ve used a 50/50 gloss and satin finish on the neck, so you get the best of both worlds. And over the body, they’ve kept it as thin as possible to keep the sound lively whilst offering protection from wear.

Hardware

The Artist 65 uses the excellent LR Baggs StagePro EQ and Element pickup to provide clear and versatile amplifier capabilities. When playing at larger venues, the LR Baggs system provides optimal tone transfer into an amp discreetly. And there are no obvious appearance changes, as the pickup and EQ are placed discreetly to not spoil the classy look of the instrument.

It gets the best out of its components too. The real bone nut adds plenty of sustain and reliability. It kills all fret buzz so the projected sound is as smooth as ever. Chrome open gear tuners keep tuning stable in tandem with the nut.

The bridge is made of Rosewood to match the neck and allow for comfortable hand placement over extended periods of time.

The Classical Design

Classical guitars are defined by their use of nylon strings and often smaller bodies than their steel-string counterparts. While being a popular contemporary instrument, it’s known for its use in the Classical field, as the name suggests; its soothing but dynamic sound is instantly recognisable.

Combining modern manufacture techniques with unique tonewood treatments, Alvarez Classical instruments are truly world-class. Committed to uncompromising quality and simultaneous affordability, Alvarez travelled to Cádiz in Andalusia – the spiritual home of the Classical guitar – to learn the instruments inside and out. The result is a range of nylon-string acoustics that are among the best on the market.

Acoustic Guitars

Acoustic guitars produce their sound naturally through the vibration of the strings and body, offering a direct and expressive playing experience. They come in a wide range of styles, including steel string and classical designs, each with its own feel and tonal character. Body shape, wood choice, and construction all influence warmth, projection, and balance, making acoustics suitable for everything from gentle fingerstyle to confident strumming. Whether used for songwriting, practice, or performance, acoustic guitars provide a simple, honest connection between the player and the music.

Electro-Acoustic Guitars

Electro-acoustic guitars combine the natural sound and feel of an acoustic guitar with built-in electronics for amplification. Fitted with pickups and preamp controls, they allow you to plug directly into an amp, PA system, or recording setup while retaining an acoustic character. They’re ideal for live performance, rehearsal, and home recording, offering volume control and tonal adjustment without relying solely on microphones. Electro-acoustic guitars suit players who want the warmth and responsiveness of an acoustic instrument with the flexibility to play amplified when needed.

Guitars

Guitars cover a wide range of instruments designed to suit different styles, techniques, and sounds, from acoustic and classical models to solid body, semi-hollow, and hollow electric designs. Factors like body shape, scale length, neck profile, string type, and pickups all influence how a guitar feels and responds, making each type suited to different players and musical approaches. Whether used for rhythm, lead, songwriting, or experimentation, guitars are expressive, versatile instruments that form the heart of countless genres and playing styles.

Classical

Classical guitars are nylon-string acoustic guitars designed for traditional classical and flamenco playing, with a wide neck and flat fingerboard that support precise fingerstyle technique. Their construction prioritises balance, clarity, and articulation rather than volume or aggressive attack.

They produce a warm, rounded tone with soft highs and a smooth, expressive response, making them well suited to classical, Latin, folk, and fingerstyle music. Classical guitars are typically played without a pick and are valued for their dynamic control, nuance, and natural acoustic character.

Electro-Acoustic

Electro-acoustic guitars are acoustic instruments fitted with built-in pickups or microphones that allow them to be amplified or connected directly to a PA system or amplifier. They retain the natural acoustic tone and feel of a traditional acoustic guitar while adding the convenience of onboard electronics.

They are commonly used for live performance and recording, especially in situations where consistent volume and clarity are needed. Electro-acoustic guitars often include controls for volume and tone, and sometimes built-in tuners, making them a practical choice for gigging musicians who want an acoustic sound with modern flexibility.

Natural

Natural guitars showcase the beauty of the wood itself, with finishes that highlight the grain, colour, and character of each piece. Favoured by players who appreciate simplicity and authenticity, natural finishes let the instrument’s craftsmanship and tonewoods speak for themselves. Whether it’s the warm glow of mahogany or the bright shimmer of maple, a natural guitar has a timeless, organic look that never goes out of style. These instruments often feel more connected to their acoustic roots, offering both visual elegance and a sense of purity that appeals to musicians across all genres.
