Here’s what Alvarez say about the MP66 Parlor Guitar…
The MP66 Parlor guitar showcases incredible craftsmanship, tone, and beauty. It features a solid mahogany top with a shimmering, flawless Shadowburst finish, and is highlighted by hand-crafted Paua abalone purfling framing the body beautifully.

Alvarez Masterworks Series
The Alvarez Masterworks Series emphasizes the tonal benefits of an all-solid wood construction. Key aspects such as top thickness, brace weight, back design, and wood choice are carefully balanced to enhance the instrument’s voice, creating rich articulation and exceptional tonal quality.

The FS6 bracing system, a forward-shifted, scalloped X design, enables a slightly larger soundboard area around the bridge. This innovation enhances vibration, amplified further by AAA soundboards and premium components for powerful voicing, inspiring articulation, and instant response.

Masterworks acoustic-electric models come fitted with the LR Baggs HiFi system. HiFi is a high-fidelity, non-invasive design combining dual bridge plate sensors with precise electronics, delivering superior balance, clarity, and dynamics. Its closed sensor design provides robust feedback resistance, while the built-in studio-quality preamp enhances the pickups for optimal performance.

Every Masterworks guitar ships with a durable AFC30 Flexicase.

Our Build Philosophy
Each solid top is carefully selected and graded by our team to ensure the highest quality. If a piece does not meet our standards, it isn’t used. Our laminated backs and sides feature a unique construction with a Mahogany middle layer, flanked by carefully matched inner and outer layers.

Artist Elite guitars embody the balance between strength and vibration, crafting a tone that inspires players and provides them with “tools in the tone.” This approach is rooted in a respect for wood sourcing, preparation, and nurturing, ensuring every instrument is made with the finest materials.

All of our solid wood tops, backs, and sides, as well as the mahogany used for our necks, go through a specialized curing process. This ensures stability, durability, and tonal benefits. Depending on the wood type and its application, this curing can take months or even years.

After this process, we utilize thermo-kilns for an additional drying stage, enhancing the wood’s stability and resonance. Known as Advanced Tonal Response (ATR™), this method, a form of torrefaction, involves oxygen-controlled, vacuum curing at specific temperatures to remove residual moisture and organic compounds, such as saps and sugars.

Benefits of ATR™

  1. Enhanced Stability
ATR™ improves resilience to changing climates, helping guitars withstand dry or humid conditions better. This process effectively accelerates the natural drying phase that typically occurs as a guitar ages, making the wood behave more maturely, stable, and resonant from day one.

  2. Improved Tone Quality
ATR™ provides a distinct clarity and note separation, as well as a faster, more resonant soundboard. This process gives the guitar a sophisticated, complex voice that would usually take years to develop naturally.

Our Mission
Every step in our development process is guided by a single goal: to produce the finest guitars at every price point, offering instruments of extraordinary value and an unparalleled player experience.

Acoustic Guitars

Acoustic guitars produce their sound naturally through the vibration of the strings and body, offering a direct and expressive playing experience. They come in a wide range of styles, including steel string and classical designs, each with its own feel and tonal character. Body shape, wood choice, and construction all influence warmth, projection, and balance, making acoustics suitable for everything from gentle fingerstyle to confident strumming. Whether used for songwriting, practice, or performance, acoustic guitars provide a simple, honest connection between the player and the music.

Guitars

Guitars cover a wide range of instruments designed to suit different styles, techniques, and sounds, from acoustic and classical models to solid body, semi-hollow, and hollow electric designs. Factors like body shape, scale length, neck profile, string type, and pickups all influence how a guitar feels and responds, making each type suited to different players and musical approaches. Whether used for rhythm, lead, songwriting, or experimentation, guitars are expressive, versatile instruments that form the heart of countless genres and playing styles.

Steel String Acoustic Guitars

Steel string acoustic guitars are known for their bright, clear tone and strong projection, making them a popular choice for strumming, fingerpicking, and songwriting. Using steel strings gives them more tension and volume than classical guitars, resulting in a sound that cuts through well whether played solo or alongside other instruments. They come in a range of body shapes and sizes, each influencing balance, resonance, and comfort. From delicate fingerstyle passages to powerful rhythm playing, steel string acoustics are versatile instruments that respond well to dynamics and playing style, both at home and on stage.

Natural

Natural guitars showcase the beauty of the wood itself, with finishes that highlight the grain, colour, and character of each piece. Favoured by players who appreciate simplicity and authenticity, natural finishes let the instrument’s craftsmanship and tonewoods speak for themselves. Whether it’s the warm glow of mahogany or the bright shimmer of maple, a natural guitar has a timeless, organic look that never goes out of style. These instruments often feel more connected to their acoustic roots, offering both visual elegance and a sense of purity that appeals to musicians across all genres.

Parlour

Parlour guitars are small-bodied acoustic guitars that originated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, designed for intimate, indoor playing rather than large rooms or stages. Their compact size makes them comfortable to hold and easy to play, with a focused sound that prioritises clarity and balance over volume.

Tonally, parlour guitars are known for a clear midrange, quick response, and a slightly woody or boxy character. They work particularly well for fingerstyle, blues, folk, and early roots music, and are often chosen by players who value detail, dynamics, and a vintage feel, especially for home playing and recording.
