Bringing together the very best of classic guitar compression and time-honored recording techniques. The Barber Tone Press is a revolutionary performance compression pedal that simply has no rival.

Key Features

  • Blend Control – The blend control can give from 100% dry, to 100% compression mix, so you are not limited to only “50/50” (half blend).
  • Fast Compression – The speed toggle switch adds a “fast mode” which is perfect for percussive playing without loss of attack.
  • The “Brilliance” Toggle – The “Brilliance” toggle adds a very subtle and polished sheen to the treble frequencies.

Controls

The blend control can give from 100% dry, to 100% compression mix, so you are not limited to only “50/50” (half blend). Some of the best parallel compression sounds are achieved with very high sustain settings and more than 50% dry-blend. There’s little point to a parallel compressor than can only take you half way there!

There are 2 additional toggles one for “speed”, which adds a “fast” mode which is perfect for percussive playing without loss of attack. There is also a “Brilliance” toggle which adds a very subtle and polished sheen to the treble frequencies.

A remarkable Tonal Breakthrough

In research and development, Barber studied the problems associated with classic guitar compressors and their recent clones and found that, while the clone-makers build pedals with improved components (cleaner switching, in particular) and matched transistors, a few of the major drawbacks of those “vintage” designs still exist.

The most glaring drawback of popular classic compressors is that they reverse the guitar’s phase and cause a “pop” that squashes the attack at the beginning of every note.

Barber developed a unique continuous “blend control” circuit, and combined it with a discrete “Class A” FET mixer circuit to allow you to continuously blend the natural signal of your guitar with a “phase-corrected” classic compression circuit. The result? What guitar players have always wanted, unaltered attack with supernatural sustain and resonance. No studio engineering degree required.

Handmade, Hand-Soldered

The Exacta Vintage Fuzz has real honest solder lugs for jacks, a true-bypass footswitch, toggles and pots. Nothing but the best tried and true hand-built methods adorn the interior. The Five Watt World Plus Boost pedal has a generous 2 1/2” of clearance between the front edge of the footswitch and the back edge of the knobs, no fear about accidentally changing your settings with each click of your footswitch.

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

The Important stuff

Black — Black instruments and gear offer a timeless, understated look that fits almost any style of music or setup. Whether it’s a guitar, pedal or accessory, a black finish is often chosen for its clean appearance, practicality and stage-ready feel. If you prefer gear that looks focused, professional and never goes out of fashion, black options deliver a classic aesthetic with no distractions.. Compressor — A compressor evens out the dynamics of a guitar signal by reducing the difference between loud and quiet notes. It adds sustain, tightens the overall sound, and can enhance clarity and consistency, making it especially useful for clean playing, funk rhythms, and smooth lead tones.. Pedal — Pedals are the tools that let you shape, colour and transform your sound, from subtle tone enhancement to bold, creative effects. Whether you are adding grit, space, movement or control, a pedal becomes part of your playing rather than just an add-on. Exploring different pedals is about discovering what responds to your touch and helps your sound feel more like your own.. Tone.
