The Galileo has always been about that legendary Rangemaster-into-Vox vibe, and the Galileo 4K keeps that magic intact — but now with a twist. Catalinbread have taken the EQ section from the previous version and turned it into a full-blown two-band Baxandall EQ, giving you way more control over your tone.
Here’s the deal: the original Galileo had a single ‘Tone’ knob acting as a treble control, while locking down the low end. Catalinbread experimented with an AC30-style tone stack, and the results? Absolutely glorious. This isn’t just a tweak — it’s a whole new level of tonal flexibility. You can now sculpt a huge range of Vox-inspired sounds that really come alive when you hit them with that classic treble booster circuit. And don’t worry, the punch, bite and character you love about the Galileo are all still here, just with extra versatility baked in.
Key Features
- Treble knob: Think of this as half of the EQ stack from a Vox AC30. Crank it up and you’ll boost those sweet upper mids and highs (around 2kHz and up). Roll it back and everything above 2kHz gets flattened out for a smoother vibe.
- Bass control: Adds depth and authority. Max it out for a boost around 100Hz and below or cut it back for a leaner, tighter low end. It even feels a bit like those ‘Depth’ knobs you find on some amps — super handy for shaping the bottom end.
- Gain dial: This doesn’t mess with the amp circuit, it controls the treble booster up front. So, you can saturate the front end as much (or as little) as you like.
- Volume knob: No surprises here, it’s just your trusty level control!
