The Muff for people that don’t like Muffs, the Giygas features a highly modified fuzz engine that does the Muff thing without any of the bad stuff. Do you want volume-knob cleanup? Kay-O. The Giygas does that. Do you want a punchy tonal profile without the standard tone circuit messing everything up? Kay-O. The Giygas sculpts its tone with respect to the surrounding circuitry while avoiding the lossy dual-filter approach of the original.
Key Features
- The Big Muff Sound With No Bad Stuff – The Muff for people that don’t like Muffs, the Giygas features a highly modified fuzz engine that does the Muff thing without any of the bad stuff.
- Improved Circuitry – The Giygas sculpts its tone with respect to the surrounding circuitry while avoiding the lossy dual-filter approach of the original.
- Versatile Fuzz Tone – A wide-ranging fuzz knob gives you a load of character ranging from gritty boost to beautiful rounded square-wave singing fuzz with just one knob turn.
The Giygas Tricks
A dimed Giygas is a truly wonderful thing. Typically, a Muff’s fuzz control governs the amount of volume from the initial boost circuit let into the clipping stages. The original Giygas added gain from several cascading equalizer stages, so this version incorporates some tricks to more evenly distribute that extra gain between the remainder, so the initial boost circuit and the clipping are enhanced to replicate that bonus gain.
Controls
- LOUD: More is more. Less is less. Fully down is quiet. It’s the rules.
- FUZZ: This controls the amount of, well, fuzz. When it’s all the way down, you’ll find a warm, slightly gritty boost, and when all the way up, explore a rich fuzz dimension that finds molten tone crashing into your amplifier.
Power Supply
The Giygas 2K accepts a 9V standard center-negative power supply capable of supplying xmA. More current is fine, and we also recommend running it at 9V for optimal instrument interaction. Plugging in the wrong supply will make you unable to grasp the true form of Giygas’ attack, as it will not work (at best) or fry the pedal (at worst). The latter voids your warranty, and that’s a real shame.
