This guitar is the premium shredders guitar. Guthrie first got his own sig model in 2014 when Charvel built him a super-guitar. It’s widely regarded as one of the best ‘new’ guitars in the last few years for its sheer playability. The 2017 model is an update on what was already a phenomenal instrumental. The Flame Maple Top finish with a caramelised Basswood body – a thermal process to remove the moisture from the wood, will sound and feel much older than a brand new guitar off the shelf. Packed with features and thoughtful design built around the player, the Guthrie signature brings together versatility, playability and a dynamic tonal range.

Key Features

  • Flamed Maple Finish – The Flamed Maple finish is fairly restrained and subtle, hiding away layers of extra features, this guitar is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.
  • 2-Way Mini Toggle Switch – With a 2-way mini toggle switch to engage single coil simulation in bridge and neck humbucker positions, you can get a wonderful array of tones out of this beast.
  • Contoured Neck – With a specially contoured neck and no neck plate, the guitar is built to give you easy access all the way up to the 24th fret. And if you want to tweak the truss rod, there’s a convenient adjustment wheel between the neck and the neck pickup.

Highest-Quality Tonewoods

This 25.5” scale guitar offers a caramelized basswood San Dimas® body with a gorgeous flame maple top with a thin satin urethane finish and a specially contoured heel (sans neck plate) for easy access to the upper reaches of the fingerboard. The bolt-on neck is two-piece flame maple with a “caramelized” heat and drying treatment that makes it sound and feel much older, with graphite reinforcement, hand-rubbed urethane gel on the back of the neck and a convenient truss rod adjustment wheel at the body end. Most unusually for a San Dimas model, the 12″-16″ compound-radius flame maple fingerboard spans two octaves, with the same caramelized treatment as the neck, 24 jumbo stainless steel frets and special maple dot inlays with ebony borders, as well as Luminlay side-dots that emit light for the darkest of stages.

Premium Features

Other premium features include three specially wound Charvel custom MF pickups arranged in a versatile HSH configuration with five-way switching for the expansive tonal openness and dynamic sensitivity that Govan demands, a 2-way mini toggle switch to engage single-coil simulation in bridge and neck humbucker positions, two Luminlay numbered dome control knobs (master volume, master tone), U.S.-made recessed Charvel locking tremolo bridge with Tremol-No™ unit and oversized brass block, bone nut and chrome hardware.

Stuff About Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

Stuff About Guitars

Guitars cover a wide range of instruments designed to suit different styles, techniques, and sounds, from acoustic and classical models to solid body, semi-hollow, and hollow electric designs. Factors like body shape, scale length, neck profile, string type, and pickups all influence how a guitar feels and responds, making each type suited to different players and musical approaches. Whether used for rhythm, lead, songwriting, or experimentation, guitars are expressive, versatile instruments that form the heart of countless genres and playing styles.

Stuff About Solid Body Electric Guitars

Solid body electric guitars are built from a solid piece or pieces of wood, giving them excellent sustain, stability, and resistance to feedback at higher volumes. This construction makes them well suited to amplified playing across a wide range of styles, from clean and articulate tones to heavy, high-gain sounds. Their design allows pickups and hardware to play a major role in shaping tone, while the solid body provides a consistent, reliable feel. Solid body electric guitars are valued for their durability, versatility, and ability to perform confidently on stage and in the studio.
