The Guthrie Govan signature Charvel is the premium shredders guitar. Guthrie first got his own sig model in 2014 when Charvel built him a super-guitar. It’s widely regarded as one of the best new guitars in the last few years for its sheer playability.

Introduced in 2017, this model is an update on what was already a phenomenal instrumental. The all-new Caramelized Ash finish with a torrefied ash body – a thermal process to remove the moisture from the wood, so this guitar will sound and feel much older.

The caramelised finish is a thing of beauty, giving your brand new guitar a stage worn look that looks natural and classy.

With a 2-way mini toggle switch to engage single coil simulation in bridge and neck humbucker positions, you can get a wonderful array of tones out of this beast.

With a specially contoured neck and no neck plate, the guitar is built to give you easy access all the way up to the 24th fret. And if you want to tweak the truss rod, there’s a convenient adjustment wheel between the neck and the neck pickup.

Packed with features and thoughtful design built around the player, the Guthrie signature brings together versatility, playability and a dynamic tonal range.

Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

HSH

HSH describes a pickup configuration with a humbucker in the bridge position, a single-coil in the middle, and a humbucker in the neck. This layout combines the power and thickness of humbuckers with the clarity and snap of a single-coil.

HSH setups offer a wide tonal range, making them highly versatile for players who move between clean, crunchy, and high-gain sounds. They are popular in rock, fusion, and progressive styles, where flexibility and access to both vintage and modern tones are important.

Signature

Signature models are instruments or pieces of equipment developed in collaboration with a specific artist, built around their personal preferences, playing style, and sound. They are usually based on a proven design but include customised specifications such as pickups, electronics, hardware, finishes, or neck profiles chosen by the artist.

These models give players access to tones and features shaped by a particular musician while remaining practical for everyday use. Some signature instruments involve subtle refinements, while others are highly distinctive, appealing both to fans of the artist and to players who value the specific characteristics built into the design.
