The D’Angelico Premier SS is an affordable, stylish semi-hollow electric guitar. Sporting D’Angelico’s signature headstock design, a slim “C”-shaped neck profile with a silky Pau Ferro fingerboard, Seymour Duncan Designed humbuckers and precise Rotomatic “Stairstep” tuners — this instrument offers a remarkable variety of spellbinding tones, with its high-quality components guaranteeing years of reliable use.

Semi-Hollow Body Construction

D’Angelico were early pioneers of the archtop electric guitar, so it’s therefore no surprise why their stunning Premier SS model follows a somewhat traditional semi-hollow body formula — harking back to the ’50s and ’60s. Giving the model plenty of vibrancy, definition and acoustic-like volume — especially with the bright-sounding laminated Maple tonewoods — you can expect airy, resonant sonics with singing note sustain. This design makes the instrument feel nice and light too!

Ultra-Playable Neck

This particular model boasts a strong, snappy-sounding Maple neck adorned with a luxurious Pau Ferro fingerboard that provides smooth playability. The neck is shaped to a lean “C” carve which both traditionalists and contemporary players will admire, while a modern 14″ fingerboard radius and medium-sized frets offer a controllable feel for wide vibrato and pitch-perfect string bends.

Supro Bolt Bucker A5 Pickups

D’Angelico’s Premier SS model comes equipped with a set of Supro Bolt Bucker A5 humbuckers — yielding warm, nostalgic old-school tones. Their medium outputs make them ideal for expressive players who like to have plenty of dynamic range, while independent volume and tone controls for each pickup allow you to easily tweak their timbral character.

Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

Guitars

Guitars cover a wide range of instruments designed to suit different styles, techniques, and sounds, from acoustic and classical models to solid body, semi-hollow, and hollow electric designs. Factors like body shape, scale length, neck profile, string type, and pickups all influence how a guitar feels and responds, making each type suited to different players and musical approaches. Whether used for rhythm, lead, songwriting, or experimentation, guitars are expressive, versatile instruments that form the heart of countless genres and playing styles.

Semi-Hollow Electric Guitars

Semi-hollow electric guitars combine elements of solid and hollow body designs, offering warmth and resonance alongside improved sustain and feedback control. Typically built with a centre block running through the body, they deliver an open, airy character while remaining stable at higher volumes. This balance makes them well suited to a wide range of styles, from jazz and blues to indie, rock, and alternative music. Semi-hollow guitars respond well to dynamics and touch, providing a versatile, expressive option for players who want depth without sacrificing control.

Semi-Hollow

Semi-hollow guitars blend the warmth and resonance of a hollow body with the feedback control and sustain of a solid body. Featuring a solid centre block running through the body, they deliver rich, open tones with added bite — perfect for blues, jazz, rock, and soul. From smooth cleans to gritty overdrive, semi-hollows like the ES-335 have become timeless favourites for players who want depth, character, and versatility in one beautifully balanced instrument.
