The EF-P5 is a modern take on classic FET compressors, offering expanded control, versatility, and portability. Delivering studio-grade compression wherever you need it, the EF-P5 features XLR I/O for studio use, and TS I/O for seamless integration into a pedalboard, making it a flexible tool for both studio setups and live performances.

Key Features

  • Stage or Studio – With its premium build quality in partnership with its balanced and unbalanced in and outs, the Echo-Fix EF-P5 is designed to seamlessly integrate into any type of setup.
  • Side Chain Input – Trigger the compression via another audio source and take your compression from a misunderstood, always-on pedal to a centre-stage effect that helps take your parts to the next level.
  • Classic Ingredients – The EF-P5 is built around a FET-driven input stage working in partnership with dedicated input and output transformers for a compressor pedal that captures the sound and soul of some of the most iconic rack-mounted studio compressors.

Equipped with input and output transformers, a sidechain input, and FET-driven input gain, the EF-P5 offers a broader range of attack and release times, providing faster and slower settings than traditional FET compressors.

The high-pass filter ensures a more controlled, defined response without compromising tonal balance, while the mix control blends compressed and dry signals for a more dynamic sound. The compression on/off foot switch lets you bypass compression, and the gain boost switch adds an extra 20dB of input gain.

The EF-P5 is built for versatility and is designed to work seamlessly between the studio and a pedalboard. Featuring both balanced and unbalanced outputs, along with configurable footswitches to enable personalised start-up settings, the EF-P5 is simple to integrate into any setup.

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

The Important stuff

Compressor — A compressor evens out the dynamics of a guitar signal by reducing the difference between loud and quiet notes. It adds sustain, tightens the overall sound, and can enhance clarity and consistency, making it especially useful for clean playing, funk rhythms, and smooth lead tones.. Pedal — Pedals are the tools that let you shape, colour and transform your sound, from subtle tone enhancement to bold, creative effects. Whether you are adding grit, space, movement or control, a pedal becomes part of your playing rather than just an add-on. Exploring different pedals is about discovering what responds to your touch and helps your sound feel more like your own..
