Dave Friedman has been building pedalboards for over 30 years. From the fancy and ultra-complex to the modest and simplistic, Dave has seen and designed them all for the who’s who of the industry. When it came time for Dave to design his own line of pedalboards, everything a touring or home guitar player actually needs was meticulously thought out and addressed. All Friedman Tour Pro pedalboards are made in the USA and built to a fantastic standard.

Practical Two-Tier Design

While most pedalboards have either a flat or a slanted surface, the Tour Pro boards are designed with two tiers — a bottom section that is flat, and a top section that is angled (with all the holes needed for easy cable routing). This two-tier design allows you to have access to all of your stompboxes on the board, without resorting to ballerina-style, toe-extending dance moves. And, to address the need for wah and/or volume pedals, the Tour Pro 1542 includes two detachable risers that can be mounted in various locations on the bottom tier. Yes, Friedman thought about the left-footed guitar players too!

‘Platinum’ Package

The Tour Pro 1542 Platinum package includes not just the pedalboard, but a Friedman Power Grid 10 (isolated pedal power supply with 10 high-current 9V outputs) and the Friedman Buffer Bay 6 (ultra-transparent buffer with built-in patch bay). This means that you can plug in, power and route your pedals straight away!

*Please Note: Carry case and velco strips sold seperately*

Power Grid 10

The Power Grid 10 was designed to address all of the deficiencies Dave Friedman encountered with power supplies from other brands over his 27-year career. It will meet the demands of any player who wants a dead-quiet pedalboard that’s tour-ready and can be taken anywhere. Some of its key features include:

  • 10 isolated outputs — 350mA per output at 9V DC, which will power virtually any pedal!
  • Universal power from 100-240V means that you can plug it in anywhere in the world. You will never have to flip switches or worry about a step up or step-down transformer.
  • Zero-field hum, which plagues many other power supplies with traditional toroidal transformers.

All the cables needed to power your pedals are included too:

  • 2 x 2.1mm black connector to 2.5mm blue connector — polarity reversed — 20″ long — right angle connector on both sides.
  • 10 x 2.1mm black connector to 2.1mm black connector — regular polarity — 20″ long — right angle connector on both sides.
  • 1 x 2.1mm black connector to 1/8″ phono black connector — 20″ long — right angle connector on 2.1mm connector.
  • 1 x 18V cable — 2.1mm black connector with additional 2.1mm slave connector on one side to 2.1mm black connector — regular polarity — 20″ long — right angle connector on both sides.

Buffer Bay 6

The Friedman Buffer Bay 6 is a simple solution that incorporates Dave’s wealth of experience and knowledge; providing players with an innovative tool which can be easily implemented to any pedalboard.

The Buffer Bay accomplishes two basic things. First, it’s an ultra-transparent, natural and musical-sounding buffer that can be turned on or off using the provided switch. The buffer solves the fundamental problem of loading loss caused by interconnected cables and some pedals. This “loss” siphons your guitar of fidelity, tone and volume level. This problem occurs even if all the pedals used are true bypass, and the more pedals and longer the cable runs, the greater the losses.

The Buffer Bay 6 circuitry, when engaged, sounds identical to your guitar straight into the amp! You can access the buffer using the ‘BUFF IN’ connector on one side of the Buffer Bay and ‘BUFF OUT’ on the other side. Second, the Buffer Bay is a patch bay with the following benefits:

  • Cleans up all of the connections on your pedalboard.
  • Allows for tighter pedal placement on the board (you no longer need to access the jacks on certain stompboxes).
  • Lets you have all cables from your board in the same location, allowing for neater cord runs on stage.
  • Your pedal chain in permanently connected, making setup and takedown quick and painless.
  • Saves the life of the jacks on your pedals by not plugging in cables every time you play.
  • Easily configure your input or output in hard-to-reach places.

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

The Important stuff

10. Pedalboard — A pedalboard gives you a solid, organised base to mount your guitar pedals, keeping everything stable, tidy, and ready to play. It helps route power neatly, reduces cable clutter, and makes your setup easy to transport for gigs or rehearsals. Whether you’re running just a few essentials or a full chain of effects, a pedalboard keeps your sound consistent every time you plug in.. Power — Power is what drives your tone, giving your setup the energy and volume it needs to perform at its best. Whether it’s the wattage of your amp, the output of your pickups, or the reliability of your pedal power supply, every part of your rig depends on clean, consistent energy. The right power setup ensures your sound stays clear, strong, and noise-free, whether you’re on stage or in the studio. From compact adapters to multi-output supplies, reliable power keeps your gear running smoothly so you can focus entirely on playing.. Pro.
