The Mooer Gas Station is a micro preamp/drive pedal based on a famous German tube amp.

Mooer Micro preamp

Mooer analyzed 10 famous tube amps and created these pedals based on those popular sounds to create these preamps/DIs.

If you plug into the effects return of any tube amp, that amp will morph into the Mooer pedal of your choice.

You can also use the on-board cab sim technology to plug directly into a PA system or recording interface without having to use an actual amp. This gives you a very direct sound, but the cab sim makes it sound like a professionally mic’d up speaker cabinet. And fortunately, you can turn the cab sim off if you want to run into your cab emulator

Essentially this means you can gig with a pedalboard and no real amp which means no more breaking your back carrying that heavy 2×12 combo around! And it’s easy to great guitar tones.

You can also use these preamps as a simple overdrive pedal into an amp. Turn the Cab Sim off (Because you wouldn’t want cab sim into an actual cab) and run it as you normally would in your signal chain.

Here’s what Mooer say about the Gas Station Micro Preamp

MOOER micro preamps are sonically accurate digital recreations of the preamp sections of popular tube amplifiers. We have developed these by directly analyzing real tube amplifiers using a brand new technology to capture their sound, dynamics and response. Each Micro Preamp comes complete with dual channels, integrated speaker cabinet simulation and dual operating modes to suit the needs of all users.

Initially we are releasing a set of 10 models, each based on a different popular tube amplifier from a range of manufacturers. These have been designed to be used with the upcoming MOOER power amp or in the effects return of any standard guitar amplifier. The speaker cab simulation allows the user to connect direct to a soundcard, powered monitor or P.A. without the need for a guitar amp or speaker cab at all.

Features:

•    High quality dual channel preamp

•    Independent 3 band EQ, Gain and Volume controls for each channel

•    Speaker cabinet simulation on/off

•    2 different modes for footswitch operation. On/Off or channel A/B

•    001 is based on Diezel® Hagen

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

Micro

Micro describes compact, small-format music gear designed to deliver full functionality in a reduced physical size. Micro pedals, amps, and effects are built to save space while still providing practical controls and usable tone.

They are popular for pedalboards, travel rigs, and home setups where space and portability matter. Micro gear allows players to build flexible, lightweight systems without sacrificing essential sounds or performance.

Pedal

Pedals are the tools that let you shape, colour and transform your sound, from subtle tone enhancement to bold, creative effects. Whether you are adding grit, space, movement or control, a pedal becomes part of your playing rather than just an add-on. Exploring different pedals is about discovering what responds to your touch and helps your sound feel more like your own.

preamp

A preamp is a stage in the signal chain that boosts the guitar’s signal and shapes its core tone before it reaches the power amp or recording interface. Preamp pedals and units can add gain, EQ, and character, helping define clarity, warmth, and drive while forming the foundation of a player’s overall sound.
