The MXR Tap Tempo switch features adjustable tip/ring configuration so you can control the delay time of a wide variety of delay pedal types. This pint-sized footswitch is ruggedly built for a lifetime on the road.

DIRECTIONS

Run an instrument cable from your pedal’s external switch jack to the M199’s INPUT jack. The EP103 Echoplex® Delay only requires a normal instrument cable when connected to the M199, but other pedals may require a different type, such as a TRS cable. Consult your pedal’s manual to be sure. Tap your foot on the FOOTSWITCH to your desired tempo.

INTERNAL SWITCHES

The M199 is factory-set to work with the Echoplex Delay. Check your pedal’s user manual to see its tip/ring cable requirements.
To adjust the M199’s tip/ring setup, simply remove the bottom plate to access the M199’s internal switches. See Diagram A for switch configurations.

Specifications

  • Adjustable tip/ring configuration
  • Ruggedly built, road-ready construction
  • Can be used with a variety of pedal types

Guitar FX

Guitar FX (effects) refer to the wide range of pedals and processors that shape and manipulate a guitar’s signal to create different sounds. From classic distortion and overdrive to reverb, delay, modulation, and pitch-shifting, effects are at the heart of a guitarist’s creative toolkit. Whether analogue or digital, stompbox or multi-effects unit, Guitar FX allow players to express mood, texture, and dynamics in unique ways. Used thoughtfully, they can transform a simple riff into something atmospheric, aggressive, or entirely otherworldly.

Tap

Not actually a tap, but Tap tempo is a feature found on some guitar pedals, amplifiers, and digital effects units that lets you set the speed (or tempo) of time-based effects—like delay, tremolo, or modulation—by tapping a footswitch in rhythm. Instead of adjusting a knob, you simply tap the switch a few times in time with the beat of the music, and the effect matches that tempo. It’s especially useful in live settings, helping players stay in sync with a band or backing track without needing to calculate BPM manually.
