Amp Academy Stomp is a further evolution of the original Amp Academy as part of the Monarch series pedals. Building on the success of the original, this 3-switch unit has separate DSP processors for amp modelling and additional effects, such as delay and reverb. The proprietary TSAC-4K amp modelling process is now twice as complex compared with previous algorithms and is now split into separate preamp and power amp sections with a Cyber IR section for speaker emulation with individual left & right speakers. Parallel processing is also selectable for Reverb and Delay effects if needed. The order of the first 5 processing blocks can be moved at will for customisable signal chains along with the send/return loop, which can be set to branch (parallel) or serial connection. Outputs on 6.3mm jack are for a guitar amplifier and L+R balanced jacks for connecting to an FRFR speaker or mixing console. All editing is accessible by 2 data dials and 4 rotary controls and a large full colour display. Deep editing is also possible by connecting to a PC or Mac computer from the USB-C port and using the free Amp Academy Stomp software. The USB-C port also serves as a USB-audio interface for direct recording into a DAW software package and further supports the supplied NBT-1 Bluetooth adaptor for wireless streaming of backing tracks through to the outputs. The 3-foot switches can be used in 3 different modes for preset, scene or individual stomp activation and a further dual footswitch or expression pedal can be added for further control possibilities. Control can also be handled over MIDI into and out from the minijack connections at the rear of the pedal. Add to this a 30-second looper which can be set to pre- or post-processing for flexible phrase playback. In summary, the Amp Academy Stomp gives you all the realism of a topflight modeller with a bundle of additional features in a compact and affordable format.

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

The Important stuff

Amp. Pedal — Pedals are the tools that let you shape, colour and transform your sound, from subtle tone enhancement to bold, creative effects. Whether you are adding grit, space, movement or control, a pedal becomes part of your playing rather than just an add-on. Exploring different pedals is about discovering what responds to your touch and helps your sound feel more like your own..
