One Control 'BJF Series' Pedals

One Control are well-known for their pedal switchers and pedalboard management devices, but they also make their own effects — the BJF Series! These mini pedals are designed by Björn Juhl, a legend within the stompbox sphere who's highly regarded for his work with Mad Professor, Barefoot FX and his own company, BJFE. These stompboxes not only sound amazing, but save precious pedalboard real-estate too!

Björn Juhl on the Crimson Red Bass Preamp:

"The Crimson Red Bass Preamp allows you to relive the sounds of bass amplification before extreme clarity, thanks to 400W amps and tweeters, was a thing in the bass world. The unit reproduces the sound similar to a single 15" or 18" setup."

Crimson Red allows you to control 3 main characteristics:

  • Volume: Output volume
  • Brilliance: Bandwidth control. At maximum, treble can pass. Whereas at the most counter-clockwise position, only bass is amplified.
  • Gain: Boost control.

"The Crimson Red Bass Preamp can be used with modern bass amp setups, while bringing back that old-school feel of a '60s upright bass and '70s electric bass."

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

The Important stuff

Bass — Bass gear is all about laying the foundation of the music, providing depth, groove and connection between rhythm and harmony. From bass guitars and amplifiers to pedals and accessories designed specifically for low frequencies, everything here is built to deliver clarity, punch and control. Whether you are holding down a steady rhythm or shaping a more melodic bass voice, the right bass equipment helps you stay locked in and felt as much as heard.. Control. Pedal — Pedals are the tools that let you shape, colour and transform your sound, from subtle tone enhancement to bold, creative effects. Whether you are adding grit, space, movement or control, a pedal becomes part of your playing rather than just an add-on. Exploring different pedals is about discovering what responds to your touch and helps your sound feel more like your own.. preamp — A preamp is a stage in the signal chain that boosts the guitar’s signal and shapes its core tone before it reaches the power amp or recording interface. Preamp pedals and units can add gain, EQ, and character, helping define clarity, warmth, and drive while forming the foundation of a player’s overall sound.. Red.
