Featuring a solid Maple body, elegantly presented in the quintessential Rickenbacker Bass design, the Rickenbacker 4030s puts this classic look and sound into the hands of all players thanks to its short 30.5″ scale length. With its 42.9mm nut width and comfortable Ricky neck profile, this short-scale powerhouse feels effortless. Its duo of Hot Toaster single-coil pickups provide the famed midrange growl and percussive thump that Rickenbacker basses are famous for, but with even more umph. Meticulously handcrafted in Los Angeles, once you’ve got your hands on this Limited Edition 4030s Ricky, you won’t ever want to put it down!

The Rickenbacker factory is based in LA, and in recent years, all LA-based manufacturers have had some pretty stringent regulations imposed upon them regarding factory emmissions as the LA state governors try to reduce the smog above the city.

Rather than move or change the classic way in which Rickenbackers are made, the Rickenbacker company have just decided to make less guitars! This has caused Rickenbackers to become increasingly difficult to get hold of, with guitars taking over a year to arrive once the order is placed.

Stuff About Bass Guitars

Bass guitars form the backbone of a band’s sound, sitting between rhythm and harmony to give music depth, weight, and movement. Available in electric and acoustic forms, they focus on delivering strong, controlled low frequencies while remaining clear and responsive to playing dynamics. Factors like scale length, string type, and pickup design all influence tone and feel, allowing bass guitars to suit a wide range of styles and techniques. Whether laying down solid grooves or exploring more melodic lines, a good bass guitar anchors the music and brings everything together.

Stuff About Short Scale Bass Guitars

Short scale bass guitars use a reduced scale length, making them more compact and easier to play than standard long scale basses. The shorter string length results in lower tension, giving a softer feel under the fingers and a slightly warmer, rounder tone. They’re a great choice for players with smaller hands, guitarists moving to bass, or anyone looking for a more comfortable, relaxed playing experience. Despite their size, short scale bass guitars remain versatile instruments, capable of delivering solid low end with a distinctive character.
