The Martin Standard Series D-42 is an understated dreadnought that delivers an unbelievable strumming tone that oozes heritage. Over 185 years, Martin’s original and most discernible models have largely remained intact and unchanged, demonstrating the winning formula that they established almost two centuries ago.

Martin is internationally acclaimed for their skill in crafting beautiful guitars designed specifically for working musicians. The D42 showcases the remarkable quality that has kept them at the leading edge of the industry for over a hundred years.

Exceptionally crafted, the D42 features a hand-selected rosewood body to give a lovely, balanced yet full and throaty tone, and all capped off in a gloss finish which gives it an amazing feel.

This guitar sounds massive with a cannon-like low end and stunning treble with very throaty, articulate highs, which are all helped along by the super thin satin nitrocellulose finish.

The guitar is in amazing overall shape. The guitar has no marks on it other than some super fine ones on the pickguard from playing, and the hardware is as new with no tarnishing at all, while the fretboard shows no fret wear.

It has a lovely medium-low action so that you can dig in without worry but it is low enough to be comfortable for all other playing styles.

Stuff About Acoustic Guitars

Acoustic guitars produce their sound naturally through the vibration of the strings and body, offering a direct and expressive playing experience. They come in a wide range of styles, including steel string and classical designs, each with its own feel and tonal character. Body shape, wood choice, and construction all influence warmth, projection, and balance, making acoustics suitable for everything from gentle fingerstyle to confident strumming. Whether used for songwriting, practice, or performance, acoustic guitars provide a simple, honest connection between the player and the music.

Stuff About Guitars

Guitars cover a wide range of instruments designed to suit different styles, techniques, and sounds, from acoustic and classical models to solid body, semi-hollow, and hollow electric designs. Factors like body shape, scale length, neck profile, string type, and pickups all influence how a guitar feels and responds, making each type suited to different players and musical approaches. Whether used for rhythm, lead, songwriting, or experimentation, guitars are expressive, versatile instruments that form the heart of countless genres and playing styles.

Stuff About Steel String Acoustic Guitars

Steel string acoustic guitars are known for their bright, clear tone and strong projection, making them a popular choice for strumming, fingerpicking, and songwriting. Using steel strings gives them more tension and volume than classical guitars, resulting in a sound that cuts through well whether played solo or alongside other instruments. They come in a range of body shapes and sizes, each influencing balance, resonance, and comfort. From delicate fingerstyle passages to powerful rhythm playing, steel string acoustics are versatile instruments that respond well to dynamics and playing style, both at home and on stage.
