Sire basses have become best-sellers worldwide, and for good reason! Collaboratively designed with bass virtuoso Marcus Miller, Sire instruments are acclaimed for their beauty, luxurious playability, impeccable build quality, premium features and relative affordability. Able to keep up with the demands of professional working musicians, Sire basses outclass almost anything in their price bracket!

The P8 is a kitted-out model from Sire’s popular P Series. Equipped with Marcus Miller-approved hardware and electronics, including a sustain-enhancing Heavymass II bridge and Sire’s sophisticated Heritage-3 preamp, the woods used for this instrument are also key to its high-end feel and tone — sporting a roasted Maple neck with a rolled-edge fingerboard, and a warm-sounding Swamp Ash body with a stunning natural grain.

Key Features

  • C-Shaped Roasted Maple Neck — Roasting process crystallises resins and removes all of the natural moisture retained by the neck wood, ultimately darkening the material and increasing stability for rock-solid tuning!
  • Fretless & ‘Edgeless’ Fingerboard — Get your Jaco on with the lush velvety fluidity of fretless playing, and enjoy enhanced comfort & playability of the neck with Sire’s rolled-edge design. What’s not to like?!
  • Marcus Super PJ Revolution Pickup Set — This flexible P/J configuration is a preferred option for Marcus Miller; offering up both crystal-clear and warm jazz bass tones.
  • Marcus Miller Heritage-3 Preamp — An onboard 3-band EQ with active and passive modes puts plenty of tone-tweaking options right at your fingertips!
  • Marcus Heavymass II Bridge — An all-brass bridge that yields incredible sustain; allowing more vibrations to resonate through the body for clearer, punchier sounds when recording or performing.
  • Included Sire Premium Gig Bag — A light yet robust gig bag that carefully protects the bass against knocks on the road! Includes shoulder straps for easy transportation.

About Sire Marcus Miller Basses

We here at Andertons believe that Sire are the best bass brand we have seen in the last twenty years! That’s a bold statement for sure, but you know a product is good when all the staff own one! Unlike a lot of other guitar companies that outsource their work, Sire own the factory in which their basses are built. This means cheaper production and full control over the quality of the instruments from start to finish. It goes without saying that we QC check each and every Sire bass that comes through our doors, but we are always blown away by how little tweaking is required because they’re always set up so well from the factory!

Stuff About Bass Guitars

Bass guitars form the backbone of a band’s sound, sitting between rhythm and harmony to give music depth, weight, and movement. Available in electric and acoustic forms, they focus on delivering strong, controlled low frequencies while remaining clear and responsive to playing dynamics. Factors like scale length, string type, and pickup design all influence tone and feel, allowing bass guitars to suit a wide range of styles and techniques. Whether laying down solid grooves or exploring more melodic lines, a good bass guitar anchors the music and brings everything together.

Stuff About Fretless Bass Guitars

Fretless bass guitars offer a smooth, expressive playing experience by removing frets, allowing notes to glide seamlessly into one another. This design gives greater control over pitch, vibrato, and dynamics, producing a warm, vocal-like tone that’s popular in jazz, fusion, ambient, and experimental music. Without frets to define each note, accuracy and touch become more important, encouraging a more expressive and intentional playing style. Fretless bass guitars reward careful technique with a unique, fluid sound that stands out in a mix.

The Important stuff

Fretless. Natural — Natural guitars showcase the beauty of the wood itself, with finishes that highlight the grain, colour, and character of each piece. Favoured by players who appreciate simplicity and authenticity, natural finishes let the instrument’s craftsmanship and tonewoods speak for themselves. Whether it’s the warm glow of mahogany or the bright shimmer of maple, a natural guitar has a timeless, organic look that never goes out of style. These instruments often feel more connected to their acoustic roots, offering both visual elegance and a sense of purity that appeals to musicians across all genres..
