Sire have made serious waves in the bass market in recent years and have rightfully earned massive praise for their all-encompassing range. Their collaboration with world-renowned jazz and funk bassist Marcus Miller has produced a range of exceptionally high-quality instruments that far exceed their price point.

We here at Andertons believe that Sire are the best bass brand we have seen in the last twenty years! That’s a bold statement for sure, but you know a product is good when all the staff own one! Unlike a lot of other guitar companies that outsource their work, Sire own the factory in which their basses are built. This means cheaper production and full control over the quality of the instruments from start to finish. It goes without saying that we QC check each and every Sire bass that comes through our doors, but we are always blown away by how little tweaking is required because they’re always set up so well from the factory!

The V5R is an all-new, vintage-inspired passive bass guitar in Sire's popular Marcus Miller V Series. Sporting a familiar J-Bass body shape, the V5R is packed to the rafters with premium features that you would typically expect to see on more expensive models. An Alder body provides a resonant and balanced foundation on which to build your sound while an Edgeless™ Rosewood fingerboard offers maximum comfort and playability. At the heart of the V5R is a set of Marcus Miller-approved Vintage Fat-J Revolution pickups with '70s spacing, delivering Marcus' signature punchy tones.

Key Features

  • Edgeless™ Fingerboard – Typically only found on high-end basses, rolled fingerboard edges enhance the overall comfort and playability of the neck and make it easier to play. What’s not to like?!
  • Passive Volume & Tone Controls – Simple electronics allow for quick and easy adjustment of your tone without compromising the true bass sound.
  • Marcus Miller Vintage Fat-J Revolution Pickups – These Marcus Miller-approved pickups serve up a host of great bass tones for a range of playing styles and genres. The '70s spacing brings the pickups closer to the bridge; a key element of Marcus Miller's sound.
  • J-Bass Body – This iconic, tried and tested body shape is incredibly comfortable to play. Body contours allow the bass to sit comfortably against your body when playing either standing up or seated.
  • Marcus Miller Vintage-S Bridge – This classic bridge set up ensures optimal intonation and tuning stability, whilst maximising the transfer of sound energy to the pickups. It also offers a tighter sustain and brings a cool vintage aesthetic to the V5R!

More info about this Product

Bass Guitars

Bass guitars form the backbone of a band’s sound, sitting between rhythm and harmony to give music depth, weight, and movement. Available in electric and acoustic forms, they focus on delivering strong, controlled low frequencies while remaining clear and responsive to playing dynamics. Factors like scale length, string type, and pickup design all influence tone and feel, allowing bass guitars to suit a wide range of styles and techniques. Whether laying down solid grooves or exploring more melodic lines, a good bass guitar anchors the music and brings everything together.

Bass Guitars

Electric bass guitars provide the low-end foundation that supports rhythm, harmony, and groove within a band. Designed for clarity, punch, and control, they translate string vibration into a focused, amplified signal that locks in with drums and drives the music forward. Different scale lengths, pickup configurations, and electronics influence feel and tone, from deep, rounded lows to tight, articulate attack. Whether used for simple supportive lines or more expressive playing, electric bass guitars are essential for shaping the feel and energy of a track.

Tobacco Sunburst

Tobacco sunburst is a classic guitar finish that fades from a warm amber or golden centre into darker brown edges, often with subtle black shading at the outer rim. It became popular on vintage electric and acoustic guitars and is closely associated with traditional craftsmanship and timeless instrument design.

The finish highlights the natural grain of the wood while giving the guitar a rich, warm appearance that feels both elegant and understated. Tobacco sunburst is especially popular on vintage-style instruments, where it reinforces a sense of heritage and character without being visually bold or modern.
