The Sire M7 is a modern, original bass shape that has enough versatility to tackle any style of music. Thanks to its powerful 18v preamp and extensive switching options (pickup selectors and EQ controls), you can genuinely play anything from jazz to heavy metal! This Version 2 model features redesigned and improved pickups as well as a silky-smooth Ebony fingerboard!
Modern Construction
The body is made of Swamp Ash which gives you a highly resonant bass. It's got a balanced sound with a slight scooped mid-range, making it particularly apt for slap-bass and funk styles. Swamp Ash is also a lightweight material, so it won’t take a toll on your back when you’re gigging, while the contoured and ergonomic body shape is perfect for preventing discomfort during extended practice/recording sessions.
Redesigned Pickups
The M7 Version 2 features completely new pickups which have been designed in collaboration with the man himself, Marcus Miller. Made with different magnets and coils, the new Marcus Pure-H Revolution set has a clearer, high-definition sound.
Sire Marcus Heritage-3 Preamp
The much-praised Sire preamp uses 2x 9v batteries to give you an 18v powerhouse with loads of headroom and control. This means that the instrument has a very open sound and with onboard bass, mid and treble controls — you've got incredible flexibility.
The knobs from front to back do the following:
- Main Volume on bottom pot and Tone control on top pot
- Pickup Blend (to combine your bridge and neck pickup according to taste)
- Treble EQ
- Mid Frequency on bottom pot, Mid Boost/Cut on the top pot
- Bass EQ
- Front Pickup selector toggle
- Rear Pickup selector toggle
- Active/Passive toggle switch
Version 2 Updated
This 'Version 2 Updated' model gets yet another needed redesign; the square block saddles have been switched out for rounded block saddles. This means enhanced playing comfort, especially when muting or using a pick!
