The Sire Marcus Miller P7 is the ultimate P-style bass, and this versatile Version 2 model improves on that winning formula! Equipped with a Jazz-type bridge pickup — the P7 gives you the best of both worlds from one complete instrument!

This is a fretless version of the P7 which, at this price point, is a great way to get into fretless playing. Version 2 retains the exceptional preamp and reliable quality, but adds a few improvements such as new pickups, a satin-finished neck, a flatter fingerboard and more!

Body & Neck

This P7 has an Alder body which gives it a well-rounded tone and a medium weight that won't hurt your back while gigging.

Sire have made a number of changes to the neck of the Version 2 P7s to make it more comfortable and playable. The fingerboards are now crafted from Ebony, which provides a smooth and natural-feeling playing experience and adds brightness to the sonic mix.

The fingerboard radius has been changed to 9.5 inches which makes fretting notes more comfortable, and the neck now has a satin finish which feels great in the hand and helps you to move up and down the neck with ease.

Redesigned Pickups

The P7 Version 2 features new and improved Marcus Miller Super Precision/Jazz Advanced Pickups. These pickups have been completely re-designed for a clearer, higher resolution sound. These pickups, in combination with Sire's much-praised active preamp, result in an articulate and open-sounding instrument.

Version 2 Updated

This 'Version 2 Updated' model gets yet another needed redesign; the square block saddles have been switched out for rounded block saddles. This means enhanced playing comfort, especially when muting or using a pick!

Sire Marcus Miller Basses

Marcus Miller is a world-renowned jazz and funk bassist with some of the best chops on the planet. He's worked with Sire to make affordable basses that far exceed their price-point in terms of feel, style and above all, sound.

How do they do this? Unlike a lot of other guitar companies that outsource their work, Sire own the factory where their basses are built. This means more efficient production and full control over the quality of their instruments from start to finish.

Stuff About Bass Guitars

Bass guitars form the backbone of a band’s sound, sitting between rhythm and harmony to give music depth, weight, and movement. Available in electric and acoustic forms, they focus on delivering strong, controlled low frequencies while remaining clear and responsive to playing dynamics. Factors like scale length, string type, and pickup design all influence tone and feel, allowing bass guitars to suit a wide range of styles and techniques. Whether laying down solid grooves or exploring more melodic lines, a good bass guitar anchors the music and brings everything together.

Stuff About Fretless Bass Guitars

Fretless bass guitars offer a smooth, expressive playing experience by removing frets, allowing notes to glide seamlessly into one another. This design gives greater control over pitch, vibrato, and dynamics, producing a warm, vocal-like tone that’s popular in jazz, fusion, ambient, and experimental music. Without frets to define each note, accuracy and touch become more important, encouraging a more expressive and intentional playing style. Fretless bass guitars reward careful technique with a unique, fluid sound that stands out in a mix.
