The Strymon Big Sky MX could quite simply be the best-sounding reverb unit ever designed. You can imagine how daunting it must have been for Strymon to dramatically improve a product like the original Big Sky, as it's been a true staple on pro pedalboards for a long time. Four years of development have gone into raising the global standard of Reverb pedals, and at last, the result is the Big Sky MX that will unapologetically be THE reverb of choice.

Run anything from dual reverbs, brand new algorithms improving on Strymon's tried-and-tested reverb types, IR compatibility, and much more!

It’s like the old saying goes, “With great power comes great Reverberation”.

Key Features

  • 12 World Class Reverbs – 12 world-class reverb machines with 7 brand-new algorithms, plus significant enhancements to Big Sky classics.
  • Introducing Impulse & Chamber – 2 brand new algorithms, Impulse and Chamber. Spring, Plate, Hall, Room & Shimmer are entirely new handcrafted algorithms.
  • Play Two Reverbs at Once? Sure, Why Not? – 2 discrete reverbs at once with Series, Parallel and Split audio routing/new pan control per engine create endless possibilities.
  • Preloaded Impulse Responses – 22 pre-loaded IR’s feat. 10sec IR playback with full editing capability (!) and custom long-IR captures of classic studio gear.
  • Behold the Impulse Response Engine – Impulse response engine capable of ten second IR playback and full IR editing.
  • Infinite / Freeze! – Control your reverb even further with the dedicated footswitch.
  • Strymon Level Components – Stereo i/o with selectable input level for instrument/line level, Strymon Class A JFET input preamps, & selectable true/buffered bypass.

Stunning Looks

The Big Sky MX packs the most powerful reverb engines into a single enclosure which is stunning to look at – everyone who looks at the Big Sky MX will be instantly impressed.

The Powerful Big Sky MX Processor

It uses a tri-core 800 MHz ARM processor to achieve two reverb machines at once, with Series, Parallel or Split audio routing and new panning controls. Of the 12 reverb machines, seven are new to the Big Sky MX, and the remaining classic machines all get powerful sonic and feature upgrades.

Impulse Response Capability

The new convolution engine is capable of playing up to ten-second stereo impulse responses, along with the ability to fully edit the IR’s. Use the USB-C to update or edit these with Strymon's free Nixie 2 editor.

Preloaded IR Captures of Classic Analogue Studio Gear

22 impulses come preloaded, including a large number of custom long captures of classic analogue studio gear. Stereo I/0, DIN and TRS MIDI I/O and USB-C round out the connections, and a new OLED screen, dedicated Infinite/Freeze footswitch and multiple footswitch modes make it easier to control than ever.

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

The Important stuff

Big. Multi. Pedal — Pedals are the tools that let you shape, colour and transform your sound, from subtle tone enhancement to bold, creative effects. Whether you are adding grit, space, movement or control, a pedal becomes part of your playing rather than just an add-on. Exploring different pedals is about discovering what responds to your touch and helps your sound feel more like your own.. Reverb — Reverb (short for reverberation) is an audio effect that simulates the natural reflections of sound in a physical space. When you play in a room, hall, or cathedral, the sound waves bounce off the walls, ceiling, and floor, creating a sense of depth and ambience. Reverb pedals and processors recreate this effect electronically, allowing guitarists and producers to shape how “big” or “live” their sound feels. From short, springy echoes that mimic vintage amp tanks to lush, atmospheric washes used in ambient or shoegaze music, reverb adds dimension and realism — turning a dry, flat tone into something immersive and expressive..
