The Taylor 214ce-K DLX Grand Auditorium Electro Acoustic showcases the epitome of guitar-making excellence. Its Grand Auditorium body has been crafted from Sitka spruce and layered sapele for a lifetime of exquisite tone and long-lasting stability. Such a robust and durable tonewood duo delivers a sublime, rich, and brilliantly articulate sound whilst also being versatile enough to accommodate a range of genres – perfect for any guitarist who wants to explore new ways of playing.

Key Features

  • Grand Auditorium – Taylor’s signature shape embodies the ultimate all-purpose acoustic.
  • Big Leaf Maple – Though mostly known as a body wood, maple offers a dry, midrange-centric tone profile when used as a soundboard.
  • Torrefied Spruce – Treated with our special roasting process, torrefied spruce tops deliver all the clarity, balance and projection you’d expect from a traditional spruce top with an extra dash of warmth and played-in depth.
  • Expression System 2 – The Expression System® 2 captures more of a guitar’s dynamic properties using a breakthrough behind-the-saddle design.
  • Venetian Cutaway – The Venetian cutaway is known for its soft, round lines. The sloping peak of the cutaway will vary depending on the shape of the body.

Even when you’re plugged in on stage or in the studio, you won?t lose a touch of that acoustic goodness. The Expression System 2 picks up the natural tones of this guitar so you can project every note with gorgeous amplification. Slide in effortless fashion across the luscious ebony fretboard, let the satin-finished, sapele neck sit comfortably in your hand and let every note flow deliciously from the strings.

A Superior Build

Sitka spruce has been relied upon for years due to its wondrous tonal qualities, and so Taylor have taken full advantage of this magnificent tonewood and utilised it for body top of the 214ce-K DLX. Offering a wide dynamic range and crisp articulation, Sitka spruce ensures that every note is released from the strings with glistening definition. It is perfect for any passionate gigging and recording musician. As the wood ages, you’ll notice that the sonic capabilities of your guitar become more varied and enticing. Each time you play, Sitka spruce’s tone opens up – and so do the possibilities of the 214ce-K. Complementing the spruce top are sapele back and sides. Sapele offers an overall consistent sound but with particular focus on warmth and a little extra treble.

The grand auditorium body is known for its versatility and brilliant sound projection. With full, rounded lows, pronounced mids, and sparkling highs, you’ll have a gorgeous tonal response across the whole frequency range. Better still, the stunning Venetian cutaway makes this guitar dreamy to play. Fingerpick and strum effortlessly as you are granted an exceptionally comfortable playing experience, even when reaching those upper frets.

Built for Flawless Fretting

The 214ce-K DLX features a sumptuous sapele neck and an exquisite ebony fretboard. The neck is amazingly comfortable to play thanks to its smooth, satin finish, and a strong neck joint means it can handle any excessive fretting. Better still, Taylor’s unique NT neck design is designed to provide a straighter, more stable guitar neck, resistant to common problems such as changes in humidity.

The ebony fretboard attached on top further enhances your playing experience as well as adding more shimmering qualities to your tone. Ebony is an extremely responsive tonewood that offers a beautifully bright sound, making it a gorgeous accompaniment to sapele and spruce. Project your music with purpose and brilliant volume, ebony’s snappy and crisp attack ensures that every single note cuts through the mix astonishingly well, leaving nothing unheard.

Amplify your Sound

One of the most compelling features of this guitar is the Expression System 2 that is mounted discreetly. Featuring three pickup sensors, this electronic system captures more acoustic dynamics than ever before. Combined with Taylor’s ‘professional audio’ preamp, this guitar allows you to plug into an amp, PA system, or recording software whilst always experiencing glorious acoustic tonal properties. Sculpt your tone with three soft rotary controls and achieve a sound that is well and truly unique.

Stability and Durability

Located within the body of this magnificent instrument is a forward shifted brace that brings a whole host of practical and sonic benefits. The bracing pattern is an exceptionally sturdy structure that accommodates high-tension steel strings, meaning you can tune up and play without worrying about any potential guitar body tragedies. It also allows the lower bout more freedom to vibrate so you end up with a beautifully resonant sound that teams well with spruce and sapele.
