This refined take on our flagship 814ce boasts a custom sapphire colour treatment on its soundboard and a suite of elegant visual details. Solid Indian rosewood back and sides are paired with a Sitka spruce top in a comfortable, versatile Grand Auditorium body to produce a lush response with warm lows, pristine trebles and a slightly scooped midrange. A Venetian cutaway offers easier access to the upper register, while a radiused Indian rosewood armrest ensures a more comfortable feel for your strumming arm. Inside, V-Class bracing boosts volume, lengthens the sustain and enhances harmonic agreement between notes played up and down the slim Taylor neck. Elegant green abalone inlays, featuring the original motif used when the Grand Auditorium body was first introduced as a limited edition, adorn the smoky ebony fretboard and peghead. The appointment package includes a mother-of-pearl peghead logo, a single-ring green abalone rosette with Indian rosewood/maple/black purfling, Hard Rock maple body and soundhole binding, ebony fretboard and peghead binding, a Hard rock maple back strip, an Indian rosewood pickguard, and ebony bridge pins with green abalone dots. Equipped with Taylor smoked nickel tuners and ES2 electronics, the 814ce Special Edition, Sapphire ships in a deluxe hardshell case.

Key Features

  • Grand Auditorium – Taylors ultimate all-purpose acoustic guitar shape. Perfect for all styles of music, loud or gentle, fingerpicked or strummed! This versatile body shape sits comfortably and has just the right amount of volume.
  • Indian Rosewood Back and Sides: Regarded by players and builders as one of the number one tonewoods in guitar construction, specifically for acoustic guitar back and sides. Rich and musical lows with crystal clear and powerful highs.
  • Ebony Fingerboard: A premium fingerboard tonewood choice, Ebony provides a beautiful brightness to the overall tone of the instrument. A perfect complement to the richness of the rosewood back and sides.

V-Class Bracing

Taylor’s revolutionary V-shaped bracing pattern allows the soundboard of the guitar to resonate and flex naturally without any of the resistance found in more traditional bracing patterns. The guitar becomes louder and fuller with increased sustain and the notes along the fingerboard intonate better and generally sound more in tune with each other. The carefully thought-out design strikes the perfect balance of enough stiffness to remain stable and the perfect amount of flex for a powerful and harmonically rich sound.

ES2

Designed with the purpose of capturing as much of the expressive and dynamic properties of an acoustic guitar as possible the Taylor ES2 system is regarded as one of the best acoustic pickup systems on the market. Reimagining the typical Piezo transducers typically found on an acoustic pickup and positioning them behind the saddle rather than underneath led to a guitar pickup that not only sounds fuller and more dynamic but also more natural and musical.
