The Taylor Legacy Collection Collection

This retrospective family of guitars honors the Legacy Collection of Taylor founders Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug and their contributions to the world of guitar-making with models that channel Bob’s early inspirations and design innovations.

The first 100 guitars built of each model feature an interior label personally signed by Taylor founders Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug.

Legacy 810e

The Legacy 810e brings a traditional body shape back into the fold: the Dreadnought, arguably the most recognizable of all acoustic guitar body styles, which has more recently evolved into the Grand Pacific (a round-shouldered Dreadnought) elsewhere in the Taylor line. This rosewood/spruce model channels the spirit of Bob’s earliest builds with room-filling volume and projection, complemented by the warmth and treble-range clarity players love in the classic wood pairing. Like other models in the Legacy Collection, the 810e blends the modern with the classic, featuring today’s patented Taylor neck, traditional X-bracing and a straight-ear peghead shape that hearkens back to the company’s Lemon Grove days.

Aesthetic appointments reflect Bob’s clean, classic style with white plastic binding, a three-ring rosette in green abalone, non-engraved Large Diamond fretboard inlays in mother-of-pearl, ebony bridge pins with green abalone dots, a faux-tortoiseshell pickguard, nickel tuning machines, and a gloss finish for both the body and the neck.

Features

  • Solid Indian rosewood back and sides with Sitka spruce top
  • Dreadnought body with X-bracing for exceptional volume and projection
  • Straight-ear peghead and other classic visual details
  • LR Baggs Element VTC undersaddle pickup with soundhole-mounted controls

Acoustic Guitars

Acoustic guitars produce their sound naturally through the vibration of the strings and body, offering a direct and expressive playing experience. They come in a wide range of styles, including steel string and classical designs, each with its own feel and tonal character. Body shape, wood choice, and construction all influence warmth, projection, and balance, making acoustics suitable for everything from gentle fingerstyle to confident strumming. Whether used for songwriting, practice, or performance, acoustic guitars provide a simple, honest connection between the player and the music.

Electro-Acoustic Guitars

Electro-acoustic guitars combine the natural sound and feel of an acoustic guitar with built-in electronics for amplification. Fitted with pickups and preamp controls, they allow you to plug directly into an amp, PA system, or recording setup while retaining an acoustic character. They’re ideal for live performance, rehearsal, and home recording, offering volume control and tonal adjustment without relying solely on microphones. Electro-acoustic guitars suit players who want the warmth and responsiveness of an acoustic instrument with the flexibility to play amplified when needed.

Guitars

Guitars cover a wide range of instruments designed to suit different styles, techniques, and sounds, from acoustic and classical models to solid body, semi-hollow, and hollow electric designs. Factors like body shape, scale length, neck profile, string type, and pickups all influence how a guitar feels and responds, making each type suited to different players and musical approaches. Whether used for rhythm, lead, songwriting, or experimentation, guitars are expressive, versatile instruments that form the heart of countless genres and playing styles.

Electro-Acoustic

Electro-acoustic guitars are acoustic instruments fitted with built-in pickups or microphones that allow them to be amplified or connected directly to a PA system or amplifier. They retain the natural acoustic tone and feel of a traditional acoustic guitar while adding the convenience of onboard electronics.

They are commonly used for live performance and recording, especially in situations where consistent volume and clarity are needed. Electro-acoustic guitars often include controls for volume and tone, and sometimes built-in tuners, making them a practical choice for gigging musicians who want an acoustic sound with modern flexibility.

Natural

Natural guitars showcase the beauty of the wood itself, with finishes that highlight the grain, colour, and character of each piece. Favoured by players who appreciate simplicity and authenticity, natural finishes let the instrument’s craftsmanship and tonewoods speak for themselves. Whether it’s the warm glow of mahogany or the bright shimmer of maple, a natural guitar has a timeless, organic look that never goes out of style. These instruments often feel more connected to their acoustic roots, offering both visual elegance and a sense of purity that appeals to musicians across all genres.
