The RK5 Signature Fly Rig v3 was developed in close collaboration with Richie Kotzen, incorporating his valuable input to create a tool that meets his precise needs as a player, singer, songwriter, and tone craftsman. Richie’s attention to detail ensures that the RK5 v3 reflects his high standards and is ideal for both stage and studio performances.

Since the debut of the original RK5 in 2014, Richie’s needs have evolved, and the v3 iteration reflects those changes. This updated version retains essential features while adding new elements to provide enhanced flexibility and performance.

Key Features:

  • SansAmp Section: Includes a 3-band active EQ, Level, and Drive controls for clean, tube amplifier-style tones. It allows for overdrive and flexibility in tone shaping with the option to use both the SansAmp and OMG Overdrive sections simultaneously.

  • OMG Overdrive + Fuzz: The RK5 v3 features the signature OMG Overdrive, based on Richie Kotzen’s own OMG pedal, offering a range of overdrive from clean to aggressive. The Fuzz switch allows for a thicker, woollier fuzz tone, perfect for adding personality to any amp setup.

  • Pre/Post Boost: The switchable Pre/Post Boost can add up to 20dB of gain, ideal for beefing up drive and distortion or boosting volume for solos and fills.

  • Built-In Speaker/Cab Sim: The analog SansAmp tube amp emulation ensures a smooth, even response that mimics the sound of a mic’d speaker cabinet, making it suitable for direct recording or PA system use.

  • Reverb + Chromatic Tuner: The independent footswitchable Reverb allows for smooth, variable control over room sizes. The built-in chromatic tuner is easily activated via the Reverb/Tuner footswitch and mutes the signal path for silent tuning.

  • Delay + Roto with Tap Tempo: The delay section offers vintage tape echo sounds with controls for Time, Repeats, and Drift. The Roto function emulates a rotating speaker effect, with speed controlled by Tap Tempo and modulation controlled via Drift.

Additional Features:

  • Inputs and Outputs: Includes 1/4-inch 1megOhm input, XLR output with ground lift, and 1/4-inch low impedance output. It also features a Post SansAmp, pre-effects Effect Loop.

  • Durability: The RK5 v3 features a rugged all-metal housing, metal footswitches, and silent-switching custom footswitch actuators.

  • Power: It operates on a 9V DC power supply with an auto-switching feature for international use (100V-240V).

  • Size and Weight: The unit measures 12.5” long, 2.5” wide, and 1.25” high, with a weight of 20.7 oz.

Optional Accessory:

  • Tech 21 Fly Rig Gig Bag: A padded nylon gig bag designed for the RK5 Fly Rig, featuring silver embroidered logos, three gusseted pockets for accessories, and two additional pockets for extra gear.

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.
