The Way Huge Smalls Doom Hammer Fuzz pedal delivers thick, saturated fuzz tones that evoke the raw power of high-desert riffage and dense, ‘90s-inspired walls of sound. Born from a modified 1978 op-amp fuzz circuit originally crafted in the Way Huge garage lab in 1998, this pedal has been refined for tighter lows and reliable live performance. Whether you’re after a crushing fuzz or a more subtle crunch, the Doom Hammer Fuzz offers a versatile sonic palette that can be tailored to your playing style and rig.

Designed by Jeorge Tripps, the Doom Hammer Fuzz builds on years of experimentation and prototype development, resulting in a pedal that pounds with velvety harmonics and a less pronounced mid scoop. Its simple yet effective controls allow you to shape your tone with ease, making it a perfect addition for guitarists seeking a classic fuzz with modern reliability. From low fuzz settings for gentle crunch to full-on saturation, this pedal is ready to hammer your sound into shape.

Output, Fuzz, and Tone Control

The Doom Hammer Fuzz features three intuitive knobs: Output sets the overall volume, Fuzz controls the intensity of the fuzz effect, and Tone shapes the EQ to suit your preferences. This allows for precise control over your sound, whether you want a smooth, creamy fuzz or a gritty, aggressive distortion.

Compact and Robust Design

Part of the Way Huge Smalls series, the Doom Hammer Fuzz is housed in a compact enclosure that fits easily on any pedalboard without compromising durability. Its rugged build ensures it can withstand the rigours of live performance and frequent use.

Multiple Power Options

The pedal can be powered by a single 9-volt battery, a 9-volt AC adapter such as the Dunlop ECB003, or an MXR Brick Series power supply. The power input features a 5.5mm x 2.1mm jack with positive voltage on the outer sleeve, and using an external supply disconnects the battery to preserve its life.

True Bypass Switching

Equipped with a footswitch that toggles the effect on and off, the Doom Hammer Fuzz features true bypass switching with a blue LED indicator to show when the effect is engaged. This ensures your signal remains pure when the pedal is not in use.

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

Fuzz

Fuzz is one of the earliest and most distinctive guitar effects, known for its thick, gritty, and saturated tone that completely transforms your sound. It works by heavily clipping the audio signal, producing a raw, almost broken distortion that defined the sound of the ’60s and ’70s rock era. Classic pedals like the Fuzz Face and Big Muff became legendary for their roaring sustain and rich harmonic texture. Modern fuzz pedals range from vintage-style warmth to wild, synth-like chaos, making them perfect for players who want to add character, attitude, and a touch of chaos to their tone.
