The Next Generation
Yamaha originally launched the silent guitar over 10 years ago and it has gone through multiple different versions. The SLG200 series however is the first to feature Yamaha’s beautiful SRT pickup and preamp system that carefully emulates the sound of a real mic’d up acoustic guitar straight out of the jack.
With this new preamp system you get more control than ever before on a silent acoustic thanks to the ability to blend your piezo pickup under the bridge and the SRT emulated sounds, as well as add in a myriad of different effects. With all of this built in to the guitar you don’t need to worry about turning up to your next gig or recording session with your microphone, guitar and possible effects you may run to the board as with this everything is built right in to the body.
Solid Construction
While there may not be much to the body you will be glad to know that it is still made with a solid mahogany body with rosewood and maple wings. This gives the guitar a strong and solid feel that you would recognize from years of playing nylon strung guitars. The neck is all solid as well with a mahogany neck topped with a rosewood fretboard for the classic acoustic feel that we all know and love.
For Stage, Studio, Travel and Practice
While a portable and silent guitar may on the surface only look useful for a couple of situations in actuality it is a great tool for any level of musician. Now you can practice any time of day in complete silence through the built in headphone connector and even jam along to your favorite tracks thanks to the MP3 input.
