Origin Effects are a leading guitar and bass pedal brand, renowned for the quality and sound of their products which use best-in-class components. Their BassRIG '64 Black Panel overdrive and preamp pedal pays tribute to the iconic mid-'60s Fender® Showman® and Bassman® amps along with their 2×15" cabs — in compact form!

Iconic Fender® Tones

Before the days of the modern, portable bass amp; Fender's high-powered Showman® and Bassman® heads were relied on heavily by bassists of all genres — from soul to rock ‘n’ roll. More than 50 years later, many musicians firmly believe that these early bass tones remain some of the best ever, and the BassRIG ’64 Black Panel delivers all the warmth and grit that define this boundary-pushing era, but in a far more portable package.

Detailed Sound

The BassRIG '64 Black Panel features an entire valve amp circuit recreated in miniature form — to yield that organic analogue tone. It boasts all of the controls you need to precisely craft the perfect bass amp tone, with a powerful 'Blend' knob that adds in your clean, unaffected signal to preserve clarity and low-end punch.

The XLR-equipped DI output’s analogue cabinet simulator provides a massive sound direct to your mixing console, while the ¼” output features Origin Effects' proprietary 'Amp Out' EQ. This post-drive filter ensures compatibility with any amp and cab, which means that you never have to compromise your clean tone or struggle with the house backline.

Bass

Bass gear is all about laying the foundation of the music, providing depth, groove and connection between rhythm and harmony. From bass guitars and amplifiers to pedals and accessories designed specifically for low frequencies, everything here is built to deliver clarity, punch and control. Whether you are holding down a steady rhythm or shaping a more melodic bass voice, the right bass equipment helps you stay locked in and felt as much as heard.

Overdrive

Overdrive pedals add warmth, grit, and natural compression to your tone, capturing the feel of a pushed tube amp. They respond dynamically to your playing, offering everything from a light bluesy crunch to full, saturated rock tones. Perfect for boosting solos or shaping your core sound, an overdrive pedal brings character and life to any setup. Whether you prefer vintage smoothness or modern bite, these pedals are essential for players who want expressive, touch-sensitive drive with plenty of personality.

preamp

A preamp is a stage in the signal chain that boosts the guitar’s signal and shapes its core tone before it reaches the power amp or recording interface. Preamp pedals and units can add gain, EQ, and character, helping define clarity, warmth, and drive while forming the foundation of a player’s overall sound.
