Motherload pays homage to the classic fuzz/distortion pedals that set the benchmark of saturated guitar sound. At the heart of this pedal, you will find two distinct all-analog circuits inspired by the Holy Grail of Big Muff and RAT designs.

The R circuit goes from a touch of overdrive all the way up to roaring distortion. The filter knob is there to ensure that you will smooth out high frequencies or cut through the mix when needed. The M side is the classic fuzz distortion beast you would expect but with great string separation and is rich in harmonics for almost infinite sustain. The tone knob is the classic muff-style knob while the voice knob helps you cycle through the wide spectrum of muff design variations.

Each circuit is independent from the other with its own EQ controls until you hit the LINK EQ button. This is where all the magic happens! Now all the EQ controls are active in both circuits and a whole new sonic palette is available to you.

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

Distortion

Distortion pedals deliver the raw, aggressive edge that defines rock and metal, transforming your clean tone into something powerful and full of attitude. By pushing your signal into rich harmonic saturation, they create thick, sustaining sounds that cut through any mix. From classic crunchy riffs to high-gain modern mayhem, distortion pedals give you total control over how wild or tight your tone gets. Whether you’re crafting searing leads or heavy rhythm walls, they’re an essential tool for adding energy, bite, and character to your playing.

Fuzz

Fuzz is one of the earliest and most distinctive guitar effects, known for its thick, gritty, and saturated tone that completely transforms your sound. It works by heavily clipping the audio signal, producing a raw, almost broken distortion that defined the sound of the ’60s and ’70s rock era. Classic pedals like the Fuzz Face and Big Muff became legendary for their roaring sustain and rich harmonic texture. Modern fuzz pedals range from vintage-style warmth to wild, synth-like chaos, making them perfect for players who want to add character, attitude, and a touch of chaos to their tone.

FX

FX, or effects, are guitar pedals and processors used to shape, enhance, or completely transform your sound. They can add anything from subtle colour and warmth to dramatic textures, ambience, and movement, allowing players to craft a tone that suits their style, genre, and playing approach.

Whether used individually or chained together, FX pedals give control over dynamics, distortion, modulation, delay, reverb, and more. From simple analogue designs to advanced digital units, effects are a core part of modern guitar setups, helping players create distinctive and expressive sounds.

Pedal

Pedals are the tools that let you shape, colour and transform your sound, from subtle tone enhancement to bold, creative effects. Whether you are adding grit, space, movement or control, a pedal becomes part of your playing rather than just an add-on. Exploring different pedals is about discovering what responds to your touch and helps your sound feel more like your own.

Tube

Tube refers to valve-based amplification or circuitry that uses vacuum tubes to amplify the guitar signal. Tube amps and tube-driven pedals are valued for their warm tone, natural compression, and smooth overdrive, responding dynamically to playing strength and volume changes for a more expressive feel.
