Description

The Bad Cat Era 30 is a milestone in tone and innovation, marking the return of legendary designer Mark Sampson to Bad Cat after two decades. Blending iconic design with modern craftsmanship, this amp represents over 35 years of Sampson’s expertise in engineering and artistry.

Key Features

  • Twin Channel – Switch between or blend togther the Era 30s two channels, each powered by their own independent and unique pre amp tubes for a plethora of versitile tones!
  • Power and Versatility – EL84-driven 30 watts deliver stage-ready sound pressure levels.
  • Premium Build Quality – Handcrafted in Costa Mesa, California, with upgraded aluminum chassis, Baltic Birch cabinets, durable tolex, and premium leather details.

Two Independent Channels

Channel One: Powered by an EF86 tube for harmonically rich, three-dimensional tones with precision tone-shaping controls.

Channel Two: Uses a 12AX7 tube for tighter, punchier tones with vintage chime or earthy textures.

Depth Control

The Depth control is a stepped six position rotary switch, each step calibrated with a unique capacitor value to finetune your bass response. Turn it clockwise to let more lowend energy flow from your gui-tar into the amplifier, delivering a thick, resonant foundation to your tone.

Input Gain Controls

Each channel’s Gain control acts as an in-put volume, letting you dial in just the right amount of signal as you turn it clockwise. Push it further to add saturation in the first gain stage, giving your sound a bold, dynamic character.

Buffered Effects Loop

The fully buffered effects loop ensures pristine signal quality, whether you’re us-ing analog or digital effects. For purists, the loop is completely hard bypassed when not plugged in, preserving your signal’s pure, unaltered path.

Amp Heads

An amp head contains the core tone and power of a guitar amplifier without the built-in speakers, allowing you to pair it with the cabinet of your choice. This setup offers greater flexibility over sound and volume, as different speaker cabinets can dramatically change the feel and character of the amp. Amp heads are available in valve, solid-state, and hybrid designs, ranging from low-wattage studio models to high-powered touring rigs. They’re ideal for players who want a modular setup, precise control over their tone, and the ability to adapt their rig to different venues, cabinets, or recording situations.
