HI POWER is Crazy Tube Circuits' next endeavor in pedal & amp-in-a-box overdrives. This pedal recreates legendary sounds, following the success of the Crossfire and Unobtanium. It was inspired by the sonic combination of two British tone machines. The almighty Colorsound Power Boost pedal meets the blistering high-headroom Hiwatt amplifier!

On the left side of the HI POWER pedal, you will find an all-analogue circuit set out to emulate the sound and feel of a Hiwatt amp. Following the path of the famed British tube amplifier, the circuit offers authentic amp tones and feel resembling guitar tones from guitar greats like David Gilmour, Pete Townsend, Jimmy Page, and Noel Gallagher to name a few.

The right-hand side of the pedal is a faithful reproduction of the Colorsound Power Boost and Overdrive Circuits.

While the combination of these two units directly hints at the gear setup of David Gilmour and especially the gear used on Pink Floyd’s album: Wish You Were Here (think the guitar solo sounds of “Shine on You Crazy Diamond”, “Have A Cigar”) the sonic options are endless.

Key Features

  • Passive Effects Loop – The pedal includes a passive effects loop to give you the option to connect your beloved pedals between your booster/overdrive and amp in a box or use the two sections as separate and independent effects when using an external bypass switcher/looper.
  • Controllable EQ – Dial in the full EQ section along with a presence control located at the negative feedback of the power amp simulation circuit to control the level of EQ needed.
  • Headroom Toggle Switch – A headroom toggle switch selects between the high headroom 100w power section provided by a quartet of EL34s (think Hiwatt DR103), or the lower headroom and compression provided by a 50W power section with a pair of EL34s when hit hard (think DR504).

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

The Important stuff

Amplifier. Channel. Circuits. Dual — Dual describes gear designed with two of the same or complementary features working together, such as dual channels, dual pickups, or dual effects. This allows greater flexibility and tonal range, letting players switch or blend between sounds for different styles, settings, or playing dynamics without changing their setup.. Overdrive — Overdrive pedals add warmth, grit, and natural compression to your tone, capturing the feel of a pushed tube amp. They respond dynamically to your playing, offering everything from a light bluesy crunch to full, saturated rock tones. Perfect for boosting solos or shaping your core sound, an overdrive pedal brings character and life to any setup. Whether you prefer vintage smoothness or modern bite, these pedals are essential for players who want expressive, touch-sensitive drive with plenty of personality.. Power — Power is what drives your tone, giving your setup the energy and volume it needs to perform at its best. Whether it’s the wattage of your amp, the output of your pickups, or the reliability of your pedal power supply, every part of your rig depends on clean, consistent energy. The right power setup ensures your sound stays clear, strong, and noise-free, whether you’re on stage or in the studio. From compact adapters to multi-output supplies, reliable power keeps your gear running smoothly so you can focus entirely on playing.. Tube — Tube refers to valve-based amplification or circuitry that uses vacuum tubes to amplify the guitar signal. Tube amps and tube-driven pedals are valued for their warm tone, natural compression, and smooth overdrive, responding dynamically to playing strength and volume changes for a more expressive feel..
