Here’s what Hiwatt say about the Hiwatt Filter Fuzz MKII Black Pedal:

The Filter Fuzz is the Hiwatt Custom Shop’s tone-obsessed take on your favourite Classic ’60s Fuzz. Designed through collaboration of two Hiwatt Custom Shop heavyweights, the Filter Fuzz aims to offer old-school all-analogue sensibility with extended gain and frequency-range. A historical nod to the ’69 sounds produced on the album Grand Funk; this ‘free-love’ moment between a Musicraft Messenger guitar and a Heathkit Fuzz has been the tone-chasing inspiration for our filter section.

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

The Important stuff

Black — Black instruments and gear offer a timeless, understated look that fits almost any style of music or setup. Whether it’s a guitar, pedal or accessory, a black finish is often chosen for its clean appearance, practicality and stage-ready feel. If you prefer gear that looks focused, professional and never goes out of fashion, black options deliver a classic aesthetic with no distractions.. Filter. Fuzz — Fuzz is one of the earliest and most distinctive guitar effects, known for its thick, gritty, and saturated tone that completely transforms your sound. It works by heavily clipping the audio signal, producing a raw, almost broken distortion that defined the sound of the ’60s and ’70s rock era. Classic pedals like the Fuzz Face and Big Muff became legendary for their roaring sustain and rich harmonic texture. Modern fuzz pedals range from vintage-style warmth to wild, synth-like chaos, making them perfect for players who want to add character, attitude, and a touch of chaos to their tone.. MKII. Pedal — Pedals are the tools that let you shape, colour and transform your sound, from subtle tone enhancement to bold, creative effects. Whether you are adding grit, space, movement or control, a pedal becomes part of your playing rather than just an add-on. Exploring different pedals is about discovering what responds to your touch and helps your sound feel more like your own..
