The Studio Vintage is a mini version of one of the most popular guitar amps in history and the amp that has put Marshall on the map forever: The Plexi!

The original Plexi amps were used by countless guitar heroes such as Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, John Frusciante and many more!

It's now available in this 'Studio' combo amp which is switchable between 20w and 5w depending on how you're using it. The lower wattage (compared to the original 100w head) allows you to drive the tubes at lower volumes and capture those classic hot blues tones easily.

Fat blues tones

There's a reason that so many famous guitarists love the sound of a Plexi and when you plug into one and crank it you'll see why. They're clear and crisp with plenty of mid-range for you to cut through the mix but with oodles of sustain. Your fiery solos will be singing for days.

DI Output & Effects Loop

It's also got a DI output which allows you to plug it directly into your recording interface and capture the sound of the amp with an emulated mic'd up cab sound. This is what makes it so versatile and useful to have in the studio – you don't even need to mic it up!

It's also got an effects loop so that you can choose where the preamp saturation is in your signal chain, making this Plexi-style amp more versatile than ever before!

Here's what Marshall say about the Studio Classic 20

Based on an amp that inspired generations of iconic guitarists, the 1959SLP. Marshall Studio Vintage amps deliver the unmistakeable tone shaping and harmonics that are expected from the 1959SLP in a portable format. You can play anything from saturated blues tones to biting leads for classic rock. Studio Vintage amps provide four separate inputs for you to blend your sound, distinctive EQ settings including presence control, a DI output and power reduction.

The Important stuff

20W — A 20-watt amp gives you that extra headroom over smaller practice amps while keeping the volume manageable. It’s powerful enough to cut through a band mix in rehearsal or small venues, yet still works well at home when dialled back. Many players like 20 watts for its dynamic response — it can stay clean at moderate levels or break up naturally when pushed. Whether valve or solid-state, 20W amps strike a great balance between tone, power, and practicality.. Amp. Guitar Amps and Cabs — Guitar amps and cabs are at the heart of your tone, shaping everything from crisp clean sounds to heavy distortion. Combo amps combine the speaker and amplifier in one portable unit, ideal for rehearsals and small gigs, while separate amp heads and cabinets offer more power and flexibility for stage use. Valve amps deliver classic warmth and dynamic response, while solid-state and modelling amps provide reliable performance and a wide range of tones. Guitar cabinets, from compact 1x12s to full 4×12 stacks, influence projection and character, so matching the right amp and cab setup is key to getting your perfect sound.. Studio. Valve. Vintage.
