Here's what Radial Engineering says about the Cab-Link:

The Cab-Link provides a simple and compact solution for players who have a single speaker output on their amplifier but want to connect to two cabinets simultaneously.

Features

  • Connect one amplifier output to two speaker cabinets
  • Can use in series or parallel configuration
  • Compact and completely passive, no need for power
  • Additional line output with level control

The simple way to connect two cabinets to your amp

Whether you want to wire up your cabinets in series or in a parallel configuration, the Cab-Link makes things easy. Simply connect two speaker cables from the Cab-Link outputs to each of your cabinets, and a third speaker cable from the output of the amp head to either the series or the parallel input.

The Cab-Link reconfigures automatically depending on which input is used, and a handy guide on the top of the unit lets you know which input should be used to best match the impedance between your amp and the cabinets. A line output with a level control provides additional functionality and can be used to feed the input of another amplifier or an effects unit.

Cab-Link Applications

  • Combine cabinets in parallel configuration – Connect two 8 Ohm speaker cabinets in parallel and run both from a single 4 Ohm output on your amplifier.
  • Combine cabinets in series configuration – Connect two 8 Ohm speaker cabinets in series to use with a 16 Ohm amplifier output.
  • Use the line out to feed another amplifier – Run a second amplifier from the line out for a wet/dry setup. Fine tune the output with the level control.

Stuff About Amp Cabinets

A speaker cabinet is responsible for turning your amplifier’s power into the sound you actually hear, and it plays a huge role in the overall feel and character of your tone. Different cabinet sizes, speaker types, and configurations can affect everything from low-end punch to clarity and projection. Cabinets can be open-back or closed-back, single or multi-speaker, each offering a distinct response and spread in a room. Whether paired with a powerful amp head or a compact setup, the right speaker cabinet helps define how your guitar sits in a mix and how it feels to play.

Stuff About Amps

Guitar amps cover everything needed to amplify, shape, and project your guitar sound, from small practice setups to full stage and studio rigs. In this category you’ll find combo amps, separate amp heads and speaker cabinets, covering valve, solid-state, and hybrid designs, each offering a different feel and response. You’ll also see modelling and digital amps, built-in effects, footswitches, attenuation solutions, replacement speakers, valves, and essential accessories to keep an amp performing at its best. Whether you’re chasing pristine cleans, classic crunch, or modern high-gain tones, guitar amps and related gear are all about finding the right balance of power, tone, and control for the way you play.

The Important stuff

Cabinet — A cabinet is a speaker enclosure designed to be used with a guitar amplifier head, playing a crucial role in how your tone sounds and feels. The size of the cabinet, the number of speakers, and the type of speakers used all affect projection, low-end response, and overall character, shaping everything from tight, focused tones to wide, room-filling sound..
