In celebration of Spaceman’s 15th anniversary, we revisit the second-ever Spaceman fuzz pedal design, the Spacerocket II.

The Spacerocket II is an otherworldly fuzz, offering a variety of unique and inspiring tones within its minimalist control layout. From traditional octave-fuzz effects to thick layered waves of fuzz, this pedal provides a rich sonic palette. A three-position toggle switch simultaneously adjusts compression, gain, and bass, giving you three launching-off points for your sonic adventure.

The signature voice of the Spacerocket is a fat, compressed fuzz, with notes that uniquely sustain into an octave as you draw them out. Once you master it, the effect becomes addictive and immensely fun to play. You may find yourself wondering whether it’s you playing the pedal, or the pedal playing you…

As a sequel to the original Spacerocket released in 2011, we’ve added several upgrades to the circuit:

  • Average noise-floor reduction of 15dB
  • A more pronounced octave effect in the center switch position
  • Subtle refinements to the tone structure (tighter lows, smoother highs)

All these enhancements maintain the beautiful strangeness of the original.

“This is not your grandpa’s octave-fuzz. It’s a strange fuzz with a certain wild and interactive character that, once understood, allows you to create unique sonic textures I personally haven’t heard in another pedal. I’m excited for this update and to reintroduce it to all the sonic adventurers out there.”
— Zak Martin, Spaceman founder

Stuff About Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

The Important stuff

Effects — Effects are guitar pedals and processors used to shape, enhance, or transform your sound. They can add anything from subtle warmth and dynamics control to heavy distortion, modulation, ambience, and time-based textures, allowing players to tailor their tone to different styles and musical situations. Used individually or combined into a signal chain, effects give players creative control over how their guitar responds and sits in a mix. From simple, single-function pedals to advanced multi-effects units, effects are an essential part of modern guitar setups for both live performance and recording.. Fuzz — Fuzz is one of the earliest and most distinctive guitar effects, known for its thick, gritty, and saturated tone that completely transforms your sound. It works by heavily clipping the audio signal, producing a raw, almost broken distortion that defined the sound of the ’60s and ’70s rock era. Classic pedals like the Fuzz Face and Big Muff became legendary for their roaring sustain and rich harmonic texture. Modern fuzz pedals range from vintage-style warmth to wild, synth-like chaos, making them perfect for players who want to add character, attitude, and a touch of chaos to their tone.. Octave — An octave effect shifts the guitar signal up or down by one or more octaves and blends it with the original sound. It is used to add thickness, create bass-like lines, or produce higher, harmonised tones, making it popular for lead playing, riffs, and creative sound design.. Pedal — Pedals are the tools that let you shape, colour and transform your sound, from subtle tone enhancement to bold, creative effects. Whether you are adding grit, space, movement or control, a pedal becomes part of your playing rather than just an add-on. Exploring different pedals is about discovering what responds to your touch and helps your sound feel more like your own.. Space. White — White describes a clean, classic finish commonly used on guitars, pedals, and amplifiers. It offers a timeless look that can range from bright and modern to aged or vintage-styled, pairing easily with a wide variety of hardware and designs while keeping a simple, uncluttered appearance..
