The 314ce is one of our best-selling Taylor guitars, demonstrating its popularity among professionals and bedroom players alike. It's a fine acoustic instrument that's earned its reputation as a high-quality workhorse.

V Class bracing

Developed by master guitar designer Andy Powers, V Class bracing is the new innovative internal framework brought into all Taylor USA-made models. The switch from 100 years of X bracing to V changes the way the acoustic top wood vibrates, increasing volume and sustain. The wood is kept rigid through the middle of the guitar in the direction of the strings for more resonance while the sides of the top remain flexible for greater volume. An added benefit of V bracing is better intonation so notes and chords played anywhere on the neck are more consistently in tune with one another.

Raw beauty

Like all Taylor instruments, the 314ce is a good looking guitar, with its deep and curvy shape and a beautiful bright Sitka Spuce top. New for 2018 are the Italian acrylic fretboard inlays in the shape of gemstones, which add some flair to the stripped back design.

When you pick up any Taylor, the first thing you notice is how comfortable the Mahogany neck feels and the ease of playing it provides. Meanwhile, the Grand Auditorium body shape is comfortable for either fingerpicking or flat picking styles of play. The 314ce has a well balanced modern acoustic sound, and the Sapele back and sides give it a good tonal brightness.

Expression System 2

The 314ce was already an incredible guitar that delivered a focused sound that can be used across most playing styles. Though as technology grows sometimes guitars need reinvigorating. So Taylor made sure that the 314ce is up to date with all of the latest trimmings, including their Expression System 2 pickup and preamp. This new pickup design improves volume output and frequency response so you get a better sound live that can easily be run through a PA with no worries about volume.

What makes this system so special is the behind the saddle pickup design which means it responds more to your playing. You will hear nuances and frequencies that were just not picked up by your old guitars under saddle piezo pickup system.

Here's what Taylor say about the 314ce:

Our popular Grand Auditorium 314ce is an acoustic workhorse that performs equally well in the practice room, recording studio, and on stage. This latest edition features our acclaimed V-Class bracing, a revolutionary innovation in acoustic sound that responds with greater musicality and harmonic agreement. By introducing a more orderly vibration to the guitar’s top, V-Class bolsters the sustain and volume to offer players a more dynamic voice to explore, while also resolving the minor intonation issues that players have long had to contend with. Together with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid

The Important stuff

Acoustic Guitars — Acoustic guitars are timeless instruments known for their natural tone, warmth, and versatility. Using a hollow wooden body to amplify the sound of vibrating strings, they produce a rich and resonant voice that suits everything from gentle fingerpicking to lively strumming. Favoured by singer-songwriters, folk musicians, and performers across countless genres, acoustic guitars are valued for their simplicity and expressiveness. Available in various body shapes such as dreadnought, concert, and parlour, each offers a unique tonal character and feel. Whether played around a campfire or on stage, acoustic guitars continue to connect people through their pure, organic sound.. Electro-Acoustic — An electro-acoustic guitar is an acoustic guitar fitted with built-in electronics, allowing it to be plugged into an amplifier or PA system without losing its natural tone. It’s ideal for live performance, recording, or busking, as it captures the warmth and resonance of an acoustic while offering the volume and control of an electric. Most feature piezo pickups or internal microphones, often paired with onboard EQ controls for tone shaping. Electro-acoustics come in a wide range of body shapes and wood types, giving players the same feel and character as a traditional acoustic with added versatility and convenience.. Natural — Natural guitars showcase the beauty of the wood itself, with finishes that highlight the grain, colour, and character of each piece. Favoured by players who appreciate simplicity and authenticity, natural finishes let the instrument’s craftsmanship and tonewoods speak for themselves. Whether it’s the warm glow of mahogany or the bright shimmer of maple, a natural guitar has a timeless, organic look that never goes out of style. These instruments often feel more connected to their acoustic roots, offering both visual elegance and a sense of purity that appeals to musicians across all genres..
