Like every genre, metal music has its traditions. Drop tuned power chords, screaming solos and plenty of distortion. The GRG121DX is designed to handle even the heaviest of riffs with prominent mid range tone to help you cut through the mix. Over three decades of design, the Ibanez RG has been a heavy hitter in the world of metal. With a modern feel, great playability and amazing value for money, this a great choice for any budding shredder.

Sound

Don't get lost in the mix. The combination of a poplar body with Ibanez's in-house pickups is carefully crafted for mid range response and plenty of attack. The purpleheart fretboard takes a little edge off of the tone, especially useful with fresh strings, rounding out the top end and giving you a warmer characteristic.

Hardware setup

A fixed bridge gives you excellent sustain and helps keep the guitar in tune. When you're using drop tunings a floating bridge needs adjusting to keep the string tension right, fixed bridges don't need so much attention, great if you want to switch between tunings quickly.

Built for speed

Ibanez's necks are flat, thin and very fast. Just right for shredding. Deep cutaways give you great access to the upper frets, provide a better range for soloing and a flat fretboard that's great for quick jumps from string to string.

Stuff About Electric Guitars

Electric guitars use magnetic pickups to convert string vibration into an electrical signal, allowing the sound to be shaped through amplifiers and effects. Key things to understand include body shape, pickup type, neck profile, scale length and bridge design, as these all affect tone, feel and sustain. They are used across almost every modern genre, from clean and expressive to high-gain and aggressive styles, making them one of the most versatile instruments available.

Stuff About Guitars

Guitars cover a wide range of instruments designed to suit different styles, techniques, and sounds, from acoustic and classical models to solid body, semi-hollow, and hollow electric designs. Factors like body shape, scale length, neck profile, string type, and pickups all influence how a guitar feels and responds, making each type suited to different players and musical approaches. Whether used for rhythm, lead, songwriting, or experimentation, guitars are expressive, versatile instruments that form the heart of countless genres and playing styles.

Stuff About S Style Electric Guitars

S style electric guitars are known for their comfortable contours, versatile tones, and expressive playability. Typically featuring a double-cutaway body and a vibrato bridge, they offer easy access to higher frets and a naturally balanced feel whether standing or seated. Their pickup configurations often favour clarity and articulation, making them well suited to clean sounds, edge-of-breakup tones, and expressive lead playing, while still handling heavier styles with the right setup. S style guitars are valued for their responsiveness to touch and dynamics, making them a popular choice for players who want an instrument that feels fluid, familiar, and adaptable across a wide range of music.
