GFI System are renowned for their digital time-based pedals, most notably the powerful Specular Reverb and Clockwork Delay. The Synesthesia, however, represents GFI System's first foray into the world of modulation.

With a flexible dual-channel design allowing you to use two effects simultaneously in parallel (Mixtures), series (Cascade) or stereo (LR-Split), you can of course use any of the GFI System Synesthesia's 30 algorithms as standalone effects too. Boasting MIDI connectivity, 32 preset slots and other powerful modern features — the GFI System Synesthesia does more than simply embellish your core amp tones!

Key Features

  • Dual-engine, multi-modulation processor in a compact pedal
  • 32 presets
  • 30 algorithms
  • Flexible DSP Routing: Cascade, Mixtures and LR Split
  • Flexible Modes: Preset and Stompbox
  • Flexible Setup: Stereo Output or Pre/Post
  • Multi-Purpose A.C.E jack accepts Aux Switches, Control Voltage (CV) or Expression Pedal

Here's what GFI System says about the Synesthesia Dual Channel Modulation Pedal:

Synesthesia is an advanced, yet user friendly dual-channel multi-modulation engines, capable of running two modulation algorithms simultaneously. Packed with 22 classic and modern algorithms (expandable to 30 with future updates) and 3 different DSP routing schemes Synesthesia offers limitless sonic possibilities.

Synesthesia is not just another modulation pedal. By marrying a powerful dual-engine architecture with rich and deep algorithms, we provide players with immersive and 'colourful' modulation effects experience, hence the name: Synesthesia. Up to 30 on-board algorithms — more will be made accessible via the 'SymmLab' editor.

Guitar Pedals

Guitar pedals are compact effects units that shape and enhance a guitar’s sound, sitting between the instrument and the amplifier. They include gain pedals like overdrive and distortion, modulation effects such as chorus and tremolo, time-based effects like delay and reverb, and essential utilities including tuners, compressors and loopers. Understanding basic things such as pedal type, signal order, power requirements and intended use helps players choose pedals that suit their style, setup and playing environment.

Channel

A channel is an independent signal path within an amplifier, mixer, or processor, each with its own controls and voicing. Multiple channels allow different sounds or gain levels to be accessed from the same unit without changing external equipment.

In guitar amplifiers, channels are commonly used to switch between clean, crunch, and high-gain tones. Channels can often be selected via a footswitch, making them especially useful in live situations where quick changes in sound are needed.

Dual

Dual describes gear designed with two of the same or complementary features working together, such as dual channels, dual pickups, or dual effects. This allows greater flexibility and tonal range, letting players switch or blend between sounds for different styles, settings, or playing dynamics without changing their setup.

Modulation

Modulation effects alter certain aspects of a sound over time, such as pitch, phase, or delay, to create movement, depth, and texture. Common modulation effects include chorus, flanger, phaser, vibrato, and tremolo, each producing a distinct type of motion.

These effects are used to add richness and character to guitars, keyboards, and other instruments, ranging from subtle enhancement to dramatic, swirling sounds. Modulation is widely used across many styles of music, from classic rock and funk to ambient and modern experimental sounds.

Pedal

Pedals are the tools that let you shape, colour and transform your sound, from subtle tone enhancement to bold, creative effects. Whether you are adding grit, space, movement or control, a pedal becomes part of your playing rather than just an add-on. Exploring different pedals is about discovering what responds to your touch and helps your sound feel more like your own.
